Blidh was the Bruins 6th round pick in 2016. Left shot wing, has played the past 2 seasons in Providence. 10-4=14 in 65 games last season; 5-4=9 in 14 games this year. Reports are that he's a feisty, aggravating type bottom 6 guy.

Curious that they have called him up ahead of Danton Heinen. Bergeron is not practicing today, so that could be it, but this does not appear to be an emergency recall. There could be some bottom 6 maneuvering.

I love Blidh. Extreme agitator and emotional player on the ice with a bit of skill. He would definitely give the 4th (or 3rd) line a jolt of energy.

Even a resolution for Hayes is going to suck (but not as much as him continuing to play). It's probably going to be like max retained salary + Hayes for a 4th rounder or "needs new scenery" reclamation project

There's some expansion draft wrinkles that tie into a Hayes move. They have to leave 2 forwards unprotected that are under contract in 17/18, and played at least 40 games this season or 70 combined between 15/17 and 16/17. They can protect 7 F. Assuming no further moves, Bergeron, Marchand, Pastrnak, Backes, Krejci, Spooner and Beleskey are likely the 7 protected forwards. Hayes meets the exposure requirements, as does Riley Nash. They don't have anyone else. Trading Hayes means they'd have to find another forward that satisfies the exposure requirements. That's either trading someone or signing Moore for another season.

I think the Bruins try to sneak Hayes through waivers and send him to Providence sometime soon, probably when Vatrano and Acciari are ready to return. There is some risk there because there are several teams who currently don't have the exposure requirement fulfilled, but teams are capped out and trying to win so he is more likely to clear now as opposed to later in the year.

Both scenarios makes sense but I think they try and sneak him through waivers and send him to Providence when Vatrano and Acciari are ready to return.
