Yeah it's a close call but I don't have a problem with this. Thought it looked cleaner in real time but it's the kind of stuff you wet on the side of caution because of all the crap we have seen. Just hope this is consistently done this way this year and this isn't an outlier.

I agree that Pastrnak's hit could have been marginally lower. For me, the two minute 'check to the head' minor would have been sufficient.

My beef is with the message this sends to the rest of the league on pucks that are batted up in the air. 99% of the time, defenders retreat if they encounter this puck at their offensive blue line, or swat it towards the offensive blue line if they're in the NZ or their d-zone. Girardi decided for some reason to become completely stationary and wait for the puck to come down to him. That's plain stupid, but you can't penalize him for that.

Given the Dalpe hit on Acciari going without a hearing - and with Andrew Shaw's garbage-time slewfoot getting a $0 fine and 0 regular season games missed - this stinks to high heaven.

The explanation video from the NHL is something I actually agree with. Pastrnak came up instead of going through the check and the head was the point of contact. If that's consistently called at 2 games, I'll be ok with that.

This is where I am at. The Dalpe hit was worse, and Shaw was an intent to injure from a player with a marked history of bullshit. Pasta has never had any issues, but this gets 2 games? Such horseshit.

Completely agree with all of this. It continues to infuriate me how inconsistent this process has become. Gudas is a repeat offender, made a more much predatory hit that wasn't even part of the run of play and he gets 1 more game. What are we doing here?

To Myst's point, now let's see what Steve Ott gets for trying to emasculate Chara last night.
