This was probably the worst football play I've ever seen in my life. Like a million times worse than the Colts fake punt, which I never thought was possible.

4th and 19 at their own 5 yard line, in a close game early in the second quarter, BYU does this...

The over/under in tonight's Cal-Oregon game is up to 89.5 at Westgate (90 at some books). Per ESPN Stats & Info, that's the highest total in the past 15 seasons.

I love how they continue to say they yellow line is unofficial. We know it's not official, but when was the last time you saw that line not be accurate in predicting the chains?

Football coaching is so frigging bad. Cal has 4th and inches from its own 30, ahead by 20 points. Instead of going for it, instead of punting, instead of fake punting, they decide to fake going for it. Pooch punt for 10 yards, leading to a quick and easy TD drive. So so so dumb.

Any viewing recommendations for the East Coast prime time window? I've got the full sports package (all the ESPNs, Fox Sports, etc.), but I'm not set up for streaming, and while I know I want to fix that, I don't see anything on the menu that makes me think that's worth dealing with today.

I'm watching SEC west unless Oregon State somehow keeps it close v Wash
(Bama Aggie 3:30
Old Malzahn v New Malzahn 6
LSU Ole Miss 9)

Although Kershaw Cubs is 1st priority

Since you're posting on a Red Sox message board, I'm going to recommend that you watch baseball. I love crappy college football (I'm watching OSU at KU right now), but there's nothing I want to see tonight. If Penn State is within a touchdown at halftime, I may reconsider.

Can you be the best team in the country and still be overrated? Alabama is excellent, but laying 17.5 points against the #6 team in the country seems excessive. I'm pulling for Bama, of course, but Aggie +17.5 might be the best bet on the board today.

Tamu is more overrated than Bama right now

I would not bet this game but if I had to at gunpoint I'd take Bama

ALmost feel like I have to root for Bama to win out.

If Bama were to lose this game they'd probably put 2 SEC teams in the championship tournament

Loser of this game is probably out of the SECW race. I don't think there's room in the F4 for a 1-loss team that isn't a conference champion, except maybe if an undefeated Bama/tOSU/Mich loses their CCG.

disagree
1 loss Bama would be ahead of both osu Michigan loser and everyone in big12

Only teams ahead of 1 loss Bama would be undefeated osu Michigan winner and Washington and undefeated Clemson

Plus tamu I think will
Lose 2 more
to lsu and someone else

I lost plenty of money betting against Alabama so I finally stopped. I now bet on them and win regularly.

Their secondary is far from dominant but if their front seven is as good as it appears it won't matter

They are better across the board in this game, right down to the punter. So when the refs gift them -- no call on targeting -- it is just too much to overcome.

How is that not an ejection on the TAMU player who just killed the Bama guy during the INT return

edit: NM, taken care of after the commercial

Intent matters. One hit was a tackle on a ball carrier at full speed by a member of the suicide squad; the other was a deliberate blind-side head shot.
TaMU player could have been killed; Ala player led with this helmet. Forget ejection, it did not draw a flag. Joke.

The rule is that you can't lead with the crown of the helmet to the head. Doesn't matter if they're defenseless. The second part of the rule describes defenseless for other situations. At least that's how they seemed to present it on the broadcast

I wouldn't infer intent on the kickoff play, but if intent doesn't matter, then yes, both plays should've resulted in ejection.
