We would all likely have taken a 5-3 result before the day started. However, an afternoon collapse by the Americans gives Europe the momentum going into tomorrow. Going to need Jordan/Reed to turn things around soon for any hope of a 2-2 afternoon
Momentum does not necessarily carry over from one day to the next in any sport. If momentum meant anything then the USA would have been flying now too. I look at it as USA played well in the morning and Europe played like it should have in the afternoon. They weren't going away by any means. After the morning rounds I'd have signed up for a split knowing EU had to play better. 1-3 is not great, but taking a 5-3 lead into Saturday is fine by me.

Well, there's a chance you see Koepka again tomorrow morning but I think Moore and Holmes will be buried on the bench, maybe for the rest of the way until Sunday.

USA led 5-3 after Friday at Medinah and 6-4 after the first two sessions at Celtic Manor. I mean, it's better than being down, but it's really not any kind of reassuring cushion.

No it's not and that's why it would be nice if Spieth/Reed could turn things around.

As you have reiterated, the USA has had a good 1st day in the past and it hasn't meant much in terms of winning the event. Even if they had taken a 5.5-2.5 or a 6-2 lead into tomorrow they would have had to have a good day Saturday to have a comfortable cushion heading into singles. We all know a 4 point lead going into Sunday means jack too.

Would they put Phil back out in Foursomes? I didn't see the morning matches after 10am(stupid customers) but from what I see here he was wild off the tee. Maybe they hold him off until the afternoon?

Saturday pairings?
Spieth/Reed
Phil/Fowler
Sned/Koepka
DJ/Walker
I think they're doing pods. I don't think DJ and Walker are playing together. I'll be surprised if any of the teams are changed tomorrow morning. I'm guessing the question is which of Phil/Rickie, Sneds/Koepka, and ZJ/Walker sits first.

I want to see the skull out of the bunker, fans must have been diving out of the way.

Well I guess I know what to watch on the DVR tonight. Disappointing afternoon.

Hard to sit DJ, but he's been off this afternoon. Not sure if DLIII is using the everyone sits rule again, but tomorrow morning might be a good spot to sit him.

Why break up the team w/Koepka?
Because it feels weird to sit DJ, and he was a smokeshow this morning in foursomes. I'm not really making much of a case for it - I just think you need to have your best putter from day 1out there in the morning session, and Snedeker was just unreal today. Cuter looked bad - though DJ did too, this afternoon. Maybe keep these guys together and sit the DJ/Kuch team. I guess I'm overthinking?

Andy Brickley's potty mouth
Not sure what Clarke is doing, he's messing with his pairings too much. That's a typical US mistake.

I think that McIlroy/Pieters pairing has a chance to be really good, but the other pairings are uninspiring. Splitting up Rose/Stenson is a mistake, IMO.

So he went with DJ and Kooch. I think that makes sense. They'll be back in the afternoon in place of whichever team performs worst tomorrow morning.

How did they not show the drives off of 2? Makes no sense.

Edit:Maybe limited in what they can show since the official broadcast starts at 9 on NBC.

I love that the cut to NBC and show baseball highlights. If I wanted to watch baseball highlights, I'd watch MLB or Sportscenter. I'm here to watch the Ryder Cup now.

Posted up in the 16th bleachers, we were here when the gates opened. It's like a giant viewing party here with the video board and I can see the 17th green from my seat. I'm settled in for a long day.
