So very Spursy though---dominating run of play, a deflected pass right to Monaco, who capitalizes.

My app is showing Bartra of Pulisic's free kick.
It's Bartra and it wasn't CP's free kick. The FK was saved by the keeper, the rebound was saved again and the second rebound fell to Bartra. CP was right next time him and might have nabbed it if Bartra hadn't been there.

Thank God this isn't the knockout round, because it'd be over. Gotta scratch and claw for a point now.

Pulisic wasn´t more involved than anyone else, although he was close to the ball. But as Guerreiro´s shot was saved, someone else (Dembele?) hit the post and Bartra scored, it was almost half the team involved...

Pulisic is involved in the game, as everyone is: Dortmund is absolutely dominating. And it should be respected that he plays. Dortmund just bought spanish CM Mikel Merino (former U19, U21 player) and he wasn´t even on their roster, yet, or added to CL squad. They are thinking about loaning him out again. So be happy about Pulisic getting regular playing time on their beefed-up team.

From The Guardian's blog:

38 mins: Spurs fans were asked to wear white to the match tonight, to match the flag their defence would be waving.

Half time: Tottenham 1-2 Monaco
The whistle blows, the crowd roars, and that atmosphere at the break has been totally changed by that late Spurs goal.

Spurs will be feeling good about themselves, definite momentum shift before HT . Of course that can all be undone rather quickly with their dodgy defending.

Those Pulistic highlights at half-time of the Real game gave me a boner.

55 mins: As Spurs prepare to take the corner, Fabinho and Alli tussle, and the Englishman falls over. The referee waves a card. For a while there’s a suspicion that he had also given a penalty, and Monaco players look utterly horrified, though given that the corner hadn’t been taken at the time that was never really an option.

58 mins: Tottenham have a bit of wind in their sails now, and are starting to repeatedly rap on the Monaco door. Traditionally, this is when they concede two goals.

Tottenham with 60% possession, twice as many completed passes.

Trailing 2-1.

Me cago en todo. I can't stand Real Madrid. Another miraculous last-minute comeback for those whiny bastards.

Dortmund won 6-0, Aubameyang had at least (I watched the conference matches) two one-on-ones with their keeper which should have been easy goals, so it could have been higher without a doubt.
Warsaw was overmatched. And here come the super-duber analysts counting the touches in certain areas and making an argument out of it. Sorry, but that makes no sense against that opposition. That´s a 2nd league team over there.

Hey, the Polish ice hockey champions lost their last group stage game in this year's Champions Hockey League 7-0 on Saturday. So...relativity?

I don't vouch for the relevance, implications or accuracy of those numbers, I just thought it was an interesting data point.

The fact that he played the full 90', had one assist and should have had 1-2 others at age 17 is really the key takeaway here for me. Doesn't need to be best evahhh!!!111 to be noteworthy from the perspective of American soccer.

Hello!
2nd matchday coming up with the two biggest matches of the season being draws between Spain and Germany:
Dortmund vs. Real (TU)
Atletico vs. Bayern (WED)

With Messi missing this week, I wouldn´t rule out Gladbach (always dangerous at home) beating Barca in the third matchup between the two nations. Will be a fascinating week between those teams and you can basically say everyone can win in those matches. Ofc Gladbach is the underdog and can get bumped around, but they are capable of winning this.

Today´s matchup will already be superb, with Dortmund scoring goals at a great pace. I didn´t see Real so far this season, but obviously from last season, it would seem they sit back, be content with a 0-0 and wait for the counters...An early Dortmund goal would be perfect for this game.

Today´s matches (with points!)
Group E:
Monaco(3) vs. Leverkusen(1)
CSKA(1) vs. Tottenham(0)
Group F:
Dortmund(3) vs. Real(3)
Sporting(0) vs. Warsaw(0)
Group G:
Leicester(3) vs. Porto(1)
Copenhagen(1) vs. Bruges(0)
Group H:
Zagreb(0) vs. Juve(1)
Sevilla(1) vs. Lyon(3)

Pulisic created the equalizer for Dortmund. I'm incapable of calming down about him.

I came here to make fun of Arsenal for wearing their change strip at home but apparently it was FIFA's call.

Thus, there's no point to this post.

It's sort of a boring two days of matches. Tomorrow has the highlight of this week's fixtures: Barcelona v. ManCity.

Spurs a bit shaky at the start, can't hold possession.

Also, it's pouring.

I'm not sure this 4-1-4-1 is going to work tonight for Spurs. It puts an enormous burden on Wanyama, both to break up play and initiate attacks. When Leverkusen can break the first pressing wave, they are finding lots of space.
