This is the third time the starter on a team Shaun Hill has been the backup on had a serious season ending type injury.

Dude is either a jinx or a saboteur.

Life imitates art:

espn: If Teddy Bridgewater is out for the season, could the Vikings turn to Colin Kaepernick? John Clayton thinks the 49ers QB is Minnesota's best option.

NFL players don't freak out and pray over ACL injuries. It almost sounds like Bridgewater non-contact Theisman'd himself or something.

He's injured though. He damaged ankle ligaments while kicking in a glass window.

Edit: Torn ankle tendon. Tried to break into his own house.

Supposedly he's a few weeks ahead of schedule. Not that he's the answer obviously, but at least he's been in their system for a season.

Interesting that he got his chance in college when the starter went down with a knee injury. He was slated to redshirt until the starter got hurt and the coach decided to throw him in there as a true freshman.

Yeah, sounds pretty bad

Will Carroll @injuryexpert

Source confirms tibiofemoral dislocation, ruptured ACL for Bridgewater. "Trainers may have saved his leg and career by quick action."

Tibiofemoral dislocation ... basically, Bridgewater's femur (upper leg) went off the tibia (shin, lower leg.) Yeah.

Yikes

edit......sorry, not sure how to twitter on here very well

Non contact injury and his leg broke in half? That is insane.
I'm sure Roberts will be along soon to correct it, but I don't think those terms are describing a "break or broke".

More that without the ligaments to keep it in place the femur just slid away from the knee under Bridgewater's weight and movement.

Sucks about Bridgewater, but Shaun Hill really isn't a bad quarterback. The last time he had an extended chance to play, he led the mediocre/shitty 2014 Rams to back to back shutout wins over the Raiders and Redskins (52-0 and 24-0, respectively) and probably deserved a chance to return as the starter in 2015. He's 36 now, so who knows what he still has in the tank. I could see him putting up Lions-era Jon Kitna numbers and giving the Vikings a chance to win most weeks. He's not going to win games on his own, but he will most likely be able to put the ball into the hands of his playmakers and avoid costly turnovers. Along with a good defense, that's a team that can still compete for a Wild Card.

edit: Dammit, I guess I agree with Bill Barnwell.

There is no break. I had a more severe version of this injury in a car accident. ACL / MCL / LCL all torn. The real damage however, was to the peroneal nerve which controls 90% of foot motion. The nerve often suffers catastrophic damage in an injury like this. His career is in jeopardy depending upon the severity. Robert Edwards tragically suffered a similar injury on the beach in Hawaii.

Is it really an overpay though? It's a pick in the twenties if all goes well and a shot at the playoffs for a starving team with a new facility. This might not just be a one year stint for Bradford either. Bridgewater could be out two years or end up like Robert Edwards as "esfr" alluded to. Of course it's only a good deal if good Bradford shows up. How is Minnesota's O-line?

deep inside Guido territory
Schefter also says Packers will cut G Josh Sitton if they can't trade him. This would be a perfect opportunity to upgrade the interior of the line. Move Thuney to the right guard and put Sitton at left guard and that interior would be solid.
