Here
That seems really stupid of the coaching staff. Throw a guy out there with one arm for the entire season?

This is how serious Colts Pro Bowl cornerback Vontae Davis' injury is: I spotted him leaving the locker room with a cast on his right foot:

Would NE even be allowed to trade for the rights to Bosa? What about a sign then trade? Not saying they would but just curious about how DFG penalties would apply.
It would be so awesome on so many levels if they did though.

Can't trade unless he is signed

Sign and trade is extremely unlikely since SD would have to eat the bonus, and he won't sign without a bonus

From my understanding, If Bosa and SD can not come to terms, he goes back into next year's draft pool, is that correct? Can SD trade his rights prior to that?

This Joey Bosa saga is getting interesting. Apparently the Chargers have rescinded their offer
The Chargers are characterizing it as reducing their offer.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/24/chargers-vow-to-reduce-joey-bosa-offer/

In a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon regarding unsigned defensive end Joey Bosa, the Chargers said that they will restructure (i.e., reduce) the financial package that previously had been on the table for the No. 3 overall pick in the draft.

The reduction is occurring because, per the team, “Joey will be unable to contribute for the full 16 game season without the adequate time on the practice field, in the classroom, and in preseason games.”

Such a stupid, short-sighted organization. Really buys you a lot of goodwill with the players by trying to nickel and dime your top 5 pick.

They offered him the top of the slot, and offered to pay 85% of the guaranteed money in year one.

They're not the problem here.

I am hesitant to take the organization's side of the story based on a press release they shared so soon after making their final offer, especially since the team sat on their ass for two weeks before responding to the player's agents. That seems like some shitty negotiaton tactics to me.

They are demanding he take two things that top 3 pick have never taken both of and the pick below him didn't have. Offset language and deferred payment of part of bonus.

His side's claim has been they offered "pick one, and we can have a deal but you don't get both." I have yet to see San Diego refute that part of the story.

Seems fairly reasonable offer from his side of true.

Uh, yes, they are. As has been mentioned, they're taking a very hard line and now it looks like they're going to lose a potential impact player for at least part of the season.

According to what I've read, when they offered 57% payout in the first year, Bosa's agent came back with 85%. There was the 2 week pause, and then they came back meeting the 85% that Bosa's agent had asked for. The agent then responded that the number needed to be higher than 85%, and they pulled the offer.

Now, this is all he-said-she-said from both sides, but this seems to me like Bosa got emotional about initially getting lowballed. Playing hardball with someone who isn't negotiating in good faith is not a mistake, or 'nickle and diming'.

That's how I saw it as well. SD just trying to set some new threshhold for squeezing every last nickel out of draftees. Perhaps to get more owners in their corner for whatever stadium welfare they are looking for?

"The #Lions announced today that they have released RB Stevan Ridley."

Not a good sign for Ridley but would make sense for Pats to work him out.

Its funny. Pats=Good. So Pats Players must = Good. So Teams sign Pats Players as upgrades. They then realize that Pats Players are just "Eh".

At some point teams must realize that there is a System component (or maybe that they are playing with a GOAT QB...) that they are overlooking.

On the Bosa situation regarding the payout of the signing bonus, which I understand to be all in 2016 vs 85% in 2016 and the balance in the spring of 2017 (if I have that correct).

Is the uncollected bonus subject to interest? Meaning if Bosa doesn't get the final 15% in 2016, would he get the 15% + accrued interest when they pay it, or just get the final 15% when they pay it? Because if it accruing with interest, personally I wouldn't give a crap where it is, as long as its mine at some point and was gaining interest while I didn't control it.

The Bills are in town to play the Redskins tonight, but don't these guys have better things to do this afternoon than eat lunch in downtown DC dressed in Nats gear? (from Twitter)

Were you expecting them to skip lunch? That's one of their top-7 meals of the day.

Sounds like if he's on the roster that he has some demonstrations he's planning to do.

Do you plan to things beyond sitting during the national anthem, as far as activism?

Yeah, most definitely. There are things that I have in the works right now that I’m working on to put together in the future and have come to fruition soon. Those are things that I’ll talk about as we get closer to those days.

Jay Glazer says Kaepernick might not make the 49ers roster out of TC.
Anthem non withstanding he's awful now. This whole thing however might get him blackballed in the NFL. CFL might be where Kap needs to go in order to revive his career.

New England, where former Browns LBs come to flourish?
I know, I know every "big name" free agent should not be mentioned in the same breath as the pats, but you have to admit we could use the lb/edge depth.

Would Kruger add anything? Is/was he still decent?

When will they release Thomas lol

Potential edge players: McClellin, Nink, Sheard, Long, Grissom, Flowers, Mingo. You really think we need more edge depth?

Nine and Sheard have been hobbled. And MLGFM are all relatively unproven (with long as an injury risk) as starters.
Probably with Knighton leaving your probably right that a DT would be a better guy to look for on the trash heap.

Sounds like CAA had to help the Spanos' save face by restructuring the deal so they could say they didn't budge but Bosa gets his roster bonuses earlier in years 2-3-4 to make up for bonus deferral now.

Got a kick out of this

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 4m4 minutes ago

Browns trade P Andy Lee and a 2017 seventh-round pick to the Panthers in exchange for P Kasey Redfern and a 2018 fourth-round pick.
Apparently, Lee didn't make an effort to tackle the punt returner, resulting in a touchdown, and got reamed on the sidelines.

But why wld Carolina take him?

Imagine pulling that on BB. You'd probably find your street clothes on the sidewalk.

Do you really want your specialists hitting during an exhibition game? Honest question, and I know it's a sliding scale based on player importance, but I wouldn't want Gostkowski or one of the QBs trying to tackle anyone during the preseason, for example.

“@mattvensel: Teddy Bridgewater just went down with an apparent injury and the #Vikings ended practice. Looks serious.”

“@murphPPress: Bad scene. Bridgewater down in pocket grabbing left knee. Players freaked out, swearing and praying. Immobilized. Practice halted #Vikings”

“@mattvensel: Players spiked helmets and took knees as trainers attended to Teddy. Looked to be a non-contact injury.”

“@murphPPress: Ambulance has pulled up at Winter Park #Vikings”

Shit.
