There's a strong chance we'll be moving from MA to SWFL. I know I can purchase the MLB package for the games but a friend in the area says he only gets the games, no other NESN programming. Is there a way to watch pre/post game coverage?

There should be a sport packaging option that carries NESN. The games that are played on it will be blacked out. I was able to get NESN in Colorado, and I had a buddy in Arizona that did as well.

On DirectTV you can buy the regional sports packages which includes NESN and CSNNE but they don't include the games. You would have to buy the MLB Extra Innings to get the games.

Get DirecTV and subscribe to the sports pack. You'll get the pre and post game coverage on NESN and pretty much every other regional sports net except CSN-Philly. The only blackout issues are for pro out-of-market games if you don't have that particular sports package (NBA, NHL,,,) and having to watch the Rays and Marlins coverage of games against the Sox, but wth the sports pack I can watch the pre-game and post-game on NESN and the channel just goes dark for the game.

When I subscribed the MLB package on DirecTV and NESN from their sports package, the games were seamless from the pregame. You tuned the NESN channel and you did not have to change to the 'MLB Tier' when the game started. It just ran on NESN because you were subscribed to MLB.

I have since been informed of the exact situation as several of you. I have to purchase the MLB pkg (Extra Innings) and NESN National. It's available on Direct TV and Dish Network. I don't want to miss a minute. Thanks so much!

I can't believe anyone would pay for anything on NESN outside of the game itself.
I enjoy the post-game highlights and interviews.

If you're an out-of-towner, you wouldn't be interested in the pre-game festivities honoring David Ortiz on October 2nd?

Not enough to pay a monthly fee for it. Granted I'm not up past 10:30-11:00pm when most Sox games end and even if I was, I wouldn't pay for highlights of the game I just spent 3+ hours watching unless it was a playoff game, which generally are national broadcasts. I can do without John Farrell saying that Clay pitched well except for the 5 runs he gave up in the first, but he was solid after that.

I'm not really into the Dr. Charles type ceremonies in general, so no on that side as well. There will be 1,000 clips of it online soon after to see them give him a chair or a plaque.

NESN is such a waste and an awful channel.

I'm in Naples (during the winter) and have Summit cable, they have NESN as part of one of the premium packages.
