Watching Mets/ Braves and I have to say- HR is better than Lyons. He at least comes off like an enthusiastic guy who says some goofy shit, Lyons is dumber and comes off like a know it all asshole.

Also: wow the Braves lineup is so bad.

I agree with you. I'd much rather have an enthusiastic idiot than an egotistical, clueless asshole.

HR is both at the same time. Listen to him on MLB Tonight on MLBN. He's right about everything, godammitt, and even if you stack evidence 5,000 miles high that refutes everything he says, it doesn't matter because he's right.

The best Shields split is against AL/NL teams:

NL teams: 64.2 innings of a 3.06 ERA.
AL teams: 11.1 innings of an almost inconceivable 24.61 ERA, 31 ERs. This covers his final start in SD (against SEA) and his first three for CWS.

Cubs' latest catching prospect crushed a HR on his first major league pitch.

Embarrassment of riches for them in every position but RP

Kershaw being Kershaw again. If he wins 20 games and a 4th CY this year, could he retire at 28 YO and be a 1st ballot HoF'er?

Nats centerfielder Michael Taylor struck out 5 times tonight in a 4-3 loss. AND NOBODY WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THAT TOMORROW! With the Nats up 3-2 with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the 9th, Yasiel Puig hit a hard ground ball just past the diving shortstop. Michael Taylor charged it... and let it roll past him all the way to the wall and Puig ended up scoring the winning run. 5Ks and a walk off 2 run error. And you thought you've had bad days at the office?

I bet the Diamondbacks were thrilled to see their $200 million pitcher stealing a base and sliding headfirst into 2nd in the 4th inning today.

Phils/Giants just showed a graphic with Mad Bum at the plate showing he's the active leader in HRs hit by a pitcher. Who is in 2nd? Yovanni Gallardo with 12?? You could have given me 50 guesses and I'd have never said him.

Indians sweep the Tigers and are 9-0 against them this year, outscoring them 60-20!

If the Sox don't win it all this year, I'm definitely onboard with Team Tito.

Not sure where to put this or if it's been mentioned on the site, but ATM, 11 of 15 American League teams are .500 or better.

I usually like watching the Sunday night game while I do some shit before the week starts. But Boone and Mendoza are really making that difficult. They have nothing interesting or useful to add.

Miami in the second NL wild card position as of right now, just ahead of LA and STL.

Including his hit today, Ichiro is now 13 shy of 3,000. Since we know that there will be multiple pullouts from the ASG, is he worthy of a spot?

edit: Make that 2 hits and 12 shy

And he doubles in his first AB. 103 mph off the bat speed.

Mike Krukow thinks Bumgarner's hit fired up the Giants offense, now with 6 runs, including 2 home runs in the same inning.
The next step is to use him as the DH for the rest of the series.

Cleveland @Toronto is going into the fifteenth tied at one. Really fun game, although I have only seen parts of it. Chamberlain just got out of a bases-loaded with Donaldson at the plate. I had expected Chamberlain to be the one to lose it, and he looked as though he were going to, but got Donaldson to hit it to first.

I recognize that this is fun and that there are soft-factor reasons to let him hit, but we all should relax a bit on Bumgarner, he of the .236 career wOBA (.270 this year), no?
