That means the word "fortnight" can come out of its annual 50-week hibernation.

My favorite tennis tournament to watch, wish I still had cable. Men's side should end with Novak or Murray as champion.

Lot of suspense on the men's side: Will Murray take 0, 1 or 2 sets off Novak in the final? Anyone's guess

No major upsets yet today on the Men's side but young American Taylor Frtiz pushed Stan Wawrinka to 4 sets along with going to a tie break twice in the 4 sets. Possible hope for the men's side for American tennis.

Wozniacki out on the women's side - she was unseeeded, having come off a long injury layoff a few months ago, and lost to #13 Kuznetsova.

Definitely the least-deserving #1-ranked player I can recall, of either gender. Andy Roddick after the 2003 US Open at least won a major, as did Carlos Moya just before his 2 weeks at the top in 1999. Jankovic's 1 week at the top in Aug 2008, maybe, but she had a very long run of being top-10 quality.

She also won 6 tournaments in 2010 when she became #1

I have a hard time complaining about rankings in a sport where they use a well defined formula to set the rankings. I know people complain because it actually rewards people who play regularly

You've got to love this kid Willis. He is on Center Court next vs Federer. And he is hanging out courtside watching Djokovic play Mannarino.

I guess he figures he'll never get seats like that again in his life so might as well take advantage

Djokovic takes the first set 6-4 against Mannarino in what was a pretty tough first set for Novak.

I only tuned in for the last few games of the set, but Novak seems to be giving about 60% effort.

this is awesome to watch, and I even like Federer a lot.

WILLIS SCORES. 1-1 in the 2nd.

Willis has at least kept the second set a bit entertaining even if he dropped it 6-3. Willis girlfriend is the real treat to look at though.

Hopefully they'll finish this tournament before next year's is scheduled to start.

Bencic retired in her match today against American Julia Boserup. There are 14 Americans still in the draws. Madison Keys and Slone Stephens looked very good, as did Isner and Jack Sock

Rendy Lu of Taiwan breaks to take a 0-1 lead over Andy Murray. Lu doesn't have a lot of pop but seems to mix it up well, takes the ball early which is good on grass. Won that first game on a great drop shot.

Women's #2 seed Muguruza is in trouble--down 5-1 in first set.

Gabine loses the first set and is now down 2 breaks at 0-3 in the second set. Come on Gabine, wake up and get back into this

Cepelova is just playing unconscious so far, every shot is one the line

Bottom half of the draw is a complete mess

5 Halep, 4 Kerber, and 9 Keys still in the third quarter, but the bottom quarter really is a mess. 8 Venus is the highest seed left if Muguruza loses, and only 12 Suarez-Navarro left from the top 20.

Boom Boom Lisicki is lurking. I'd love to see her get back to the semi's

Cepelova is a weird little player. 176 in the world, but beat #3 seed Halep at Wimbledon last year, and now #2 seed Muguruza last year. She also has beated Serena in 2014. You don't usually see that froma low ranked female player.

Muguruza was absolutely horrible today.

7-7 in 3rd set
Radwanska stepped on a ball attempting to return a volley and badly sprained her ankle. She can't stop crying

Waiting for trainer
Some reason not icing it

Muguruza shocked by Cepelova (who has never really looked threatening to a top player before) in straights.

Williams Sisters just played doubles, and wrecked some poor #11 seeds who had the misfortune to draw them. They're unseeded because they play maybe 2-3 tournaments a year together, tops - usually just Wimbledon and US Open, sometimes Miami.

Bouchard up 3-0 in the rubber set, might be about to make it 4-0.

Stan vs. Del Potro on Centre Court looks as if it could be a possible 5 setter.

Kyrgios loses first set 7-6 to Brown, then rolls him 6-1 in second set. Brown with a break to start the third.

Venus and Serena each won their matches in fairly dramatic fashion. Venus closed out at 10-8 in the 3rd.

Serena won in 3 sets over Christina McHale, closing out the 3rd set with 3 consecutive aces. There was an insane all-court 25 stroke rally earlier in the set. Match was 2 1/2 hours

Per ESPN: "Novak Djokovic dropped the first set to Sam Querry 7-6. Querry is the first American to win a set off of Djokovic at a Grand Slam since Paul Goldstein at the 2006 Australian Open."

Aside from misspelling poor Sam Querrey's name twice, that's pretty cool. Also, Federer has taken the court, although if it goes more than 3 they may not finish.

Elsewhere, Sloane Stephens has fought her way into a 3rd set against 126th-ranked, 30yo qualifier Mandy Minella. Would be pretty embarrassing to drop here.

Good lord Querrey broke Djokovic again and held serve, he's up 4-1 in the 2nd

edit- Djokovic looks like he'd rather be anywhere but there. He looks like Richie Tennenbaum out there

Broken again after going down 0-40.

Djokovic is in serious trouble now. Down 4-1 in the 2nd set.

Keep in mind Djokovic has come back down from 2 sets to love a few times, most notable against a late-prime Fed at the US Open. But wow, that second set was something else!
