4-0 Miami. That's probably ballgame. BC just doesn't have comparable talent but hell of a run.

Hell of a game for that guy. Really not impressed with BC's pitchers outside of Dunn. Just an average squad that really overachieved so congrats to them.

I'm sure some folks in Baton Rouge are waking up this morning wondering exactly where Coastal Carolina is. NC? SC? I'm sure they have no idea. Long overdue for Gilmore even though he managed the ninth like closers were invented yesterday.

Now eyes are on Florida, the SEC turns its lonely eyes to you. SEC or not, this is going to be a fun few weeks. Okla State looks real strong from what I've seen. Shredded both Clemson and South Carolina.

Similarly to the day they woke up and wondered where Stony Brook is.

LSU is offering coach Paul Mainieri a significant boost in pay, countering an offer from the University of Texas, three sources told The Advocate on Thursday. Mainieri and athletic director Joe Alleva met Thursday afternoon in Mainieri’s office as reports swirled about the Longhorns’ interest in the 10th-year coach for their vacant head coaching position. Details of LSU’s offer were not immediately known, but the coach is expected to make a decision soon, likely by today.

In September 2015, Mainieri was given a two-year contract extension valid through the 2020 season. His base salary is $750,000. At the time, he didn’t receive a raise.

Seth Beer wins the Dick Howser award. Huge year. Freshman enrolled in January in what was supposed to be his senior year high school season. He's age appropriate for a college freshman, but still that's huge. No fall college practice season.

Luken Baker with a HUGE 3-run bomb to not only save TCU but give them the lead going into the bottom of the 9th.

Dalbec is the starting pitcher for Arizona tonght! FB 91 to 94 with good movement and an impressive breaking ball. He's defintely an interesting prospect - good hitter, plus defender, good stuff as a pitcher, and big guy. If he doesn't work out as a hitter, he might have a shot pitching as either a starter or reliever (which he's also done) (Note: he just struck out the side)

Lots of folks I know energized with this run Coastal is making. Every time they show a shot of the fans at the game we know half of them. Tight knit bunch that traveled. Know both G.K. Young and Kevin Woodall real well. Son played a ton of ball against them both. Pretty cool to see. GK has been mashing as long as I've known him.

Final game for the title tonight.

Coastal is going with Beckwith, on 5 days rest. 14–1 with a 1.94 ERA on the season. He was up around 140 pitches last outing and has 2 complete games in Omaha, so the rest doesn't necessarily mean he'll be fresh. Coastal started their closer Mike Morrison and he went 6.1 last night, so he's likely burnt. Bobby Holmes is the setup guy but has pitched two days in a row, so it will be interesting to see if Beckwith is on, and if he is, if he'll go the distance.

Arizona is either starting Nathan Bannister, (12–2, 2.59) who left the last game with forearm soreness in the third inning or Bobby Dalbac, 11–5 with a 2.65 ERA, who would be pitching on 3 days rest. Dalbac is primarily the closer but has started 7 games this year. Bannister had a crazy workload leading up to that game where he left.

If Beckwith is fresh and Bannister is healthy, this could be a low scoring game. If they aren't, it could go the other way and be a battle of bullpens. Should be a fun one.

Tulane's David Pierce has been hired as the new Texas baseball coach, two highly connected national baseball sources tell Statesman.
Good recruiter, built up Tulane, probably a good hire since all the big names got payraises out of UT's opening.

Lots of speculation Pierce was actually the only real candidate. I thought Florida's guy would come but nope.

Coastal starting Alex Cunningham instead of Beckwith. Beckwith will pitch in relief and likely finish once he enters. My guess is Cunningham is on a short leash. Dalbec starting for Arizona but we're looking at a lengthy rain delay.

CCs Young crushes a hanging curve for a two run HR after AZs 2b made two errors that resulted in the CCs first two runs. CC 4 AZ 0 in top six.

B9, CC up 4-2, Arizona has runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out.

Edit: Sac fly to center. 4-3, 2 outs, runner remains on 1st.

Edit: WOW that looked foul. Double - runners on 2nd and 3rd. 2 outs, 4-3 CC.

Edit: CC won on a game-ending strikeout. That's awesome.

Congratulations to Coastal Carolina - great moment for the college and fans. I liked the bar shot of them falling over each other at the end

I'm impressed and intrigued by Dalbec. It will be interesting to see what the Sox do with him; i.e., pitcher or third baseman. His talent at both ends seems pretty close, and I don't think I've seen that since Frankie Rodriquez back in the 90s.

Really cool for Coastal. I don't know Gilly personally, but everyone loves him. I've got a bunch of connections to players out there due to my son playing baseball. Lots of Coastal players over the last 6 or so years have been involved in coaching teams, training, or hitting/fielding lessons for him, so I've gotten to know the program pretty well. Two players out there, GK and Woodall, we've played against since Dixie Youth All-Stars. So we know them and their families pretty well. Really cool to see those two players have significant roles. GK has always mashed, but Woodall was a runt up until his senior year and he had a significant elbow injury around 9th grade or so. He sprouted and started becoming a player you had to worry about, but it was late development. I was surprised to see him sign with Coastal and more surprised he was playing significant innings, so watching him over the last few weeks has been pretty neat. He's got a chance to become a good player due to his size. His dad played minor league ball and Woody is built just like him, but up until senior year I thought he was adopted.

Anyway, if I get up with some folks that traveled to the games, I'll post anything interesting I hear later.

One funny story about Alex Cunningham, he was on the mound 3 straight years when his HS team lost the state championship. 3 straight years as the losing pitcher in the final game. I guess he redeemed himself.
