His posing about anything Golden State is pretty bad and very tiring. Agreed on the STFU. Nobody thought this series was over. Recency bias claim is a joke. Golden State broke the record for wins in a season. Nobody was giving up on them.
Then put me on ignore. Simmons, Bayless and other talking heads on channels like the WWL thought this series was over. Many casual fans did too and there actually are some posts to that effect though I will chalk that up to game-threading. So why don't you go to a mod and have me suspended or banned. I get that I am "tiring" and my posts seem to irritate but I will not STFU.

You're fine, not that you need me to tell you that, one of the few posters bringing consistent content to this section all season long.

Webber was great. I remember Webber said something like "The referees have to step in and control the paint, Mo Speights just three and elbow and the game is getting too chippy inside." Literally the moment he finished that sentence the refs whistled Speights for putting a headlock on Waiters while trying to post up. The sign of a good color commentator for me is to point out things that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise and Webber was right on top of everything.
I like Webber, too. He needs to work on his voice and his delivery but his content is very good. He also doesn't go out on silly tangents like JVG loves to do.

You're like that first place team blaring, "NOBODY BELIEVES IN US, WE WILL USE THAT AS MOTIVATION." You using Bayless as your example of people who gave up on the team kind of proves how flimsy your point is. You have no point. I'm happy Golden State won because Game 7's are great. It is all good to me. But stop with the victimization, Golden State had the best regular season in the history of the NBA. They aren't some scrappy underdog people are expecting to fall apart. They are the Champions.

In his last podcast Simmons talked about how JVG gets too caught up talking about the refs and league issues but never says anything about coaching, like ever. I like JVG but find Mark Jackson horrible and Breen annoying (but that may be some left over bitterness from the Heat/Celtics series). I dislike that they will have the finals.

Really? I'm kind of surprised that Adam Silver wouldn't quietly step in and suggest to his broadcast partner that they keep Mark Jackson off that series, lest the on-air commentary distract from the league's marquee event.

What do you mean? That schmuck has been part of their #1 team basically since he was fired by GS (and before he was hired by them also), it's embarrassing for the league but not sure why they'd change now as opposed to never hiring him to begin with.

Jackson didn't call the Finals last year, did he?

Whether an announcer (and especially a color commentator) sucks is a subjective judgment. Complaining about Jackson being inescapably part of the story if he calls the Finals (assuming the Dubs win tomorrow) is a more objective complaint.

Yes, they've never kept him away from GS games over the past two seasons, check the right sidebar here:

Thanks. I thought I remembered Marv Albert calling last year's finals; obviously, I was wrong.

I agree there's no way Silver would (or should) make a stink now, having gone along with it to this point.

Webber is good as is Reggie Miller and I think those three are the best of the national broadcasters in calling games.

I have mixed feelings about Jackson as I find it understandable that he might be sore over the Golden State situation (as a side note, he does, indeed, deserve some credit for the maturation of their core even if his limitations as a coach held them back). However, when he isn't trafficking in his "hands down..." or "Mama..." shtick, he has some decent observations. Breen is beyond deplorable with his "bang" call. His play-calling makes the games borderline unwatchable.

OKC went to hero ball when things got tight. It would have been worse if they didn't get a couple of put backs off air balls.
It's nothing new for GS (and the NBA, with the heavy reliance on the three in today's game) but the Warriors also won with hero ball from Curry and Klay. We would be hearing a totally different narrative today if just two of those long threes didn't fall.

I thought the Warriors struggled to get good looks throughout the second half until the last 6 min or so. And then, nothing much changed about OKC's defense, just both Klay and Steph drained some long threes early in the shot clock with a guy in their face. And then OKC panicked.

I take nothing away from GS-- both guys were totally locked in and made some great moves to take balls to the basket and also make some medium to long 2s. Pretty fun to watch. But today we'd be talking about how ill-advised those 3s were if they didn't fall.

Concur on this. Single data point, but I was at a family barbecue Sat and a clearly casual NBA fan said "hey, how about GS being done ?" It's still not clear to me whether he thought the series was over literally or figuratively, but I think few people expected OKC to be in this position, even in game 7.

Roberson was out for the last ~four minutes of the third, the first four minutes of the fourth and was subbed in and out during the last few minutes of the fourth because of his five fouls. I think his foul trouble was one of the keys to the game that allowed Thompson and then Curry to get some looks. His defense on both those guys as well as his ability to take what is given in terms of cutting to the basket has been one of the revelations of the playoffs. If he can improve his FT-ing and shooting from deep, he has the chance to be a very good rotation player for OKC (though that might be asking too much given that he is an "older" two year player).

Worth noting in retrospect that Roberson picked up his first in the second quarter on an instructed Hack-A-Bogut, I bet Donovan wishes he could have that one back.

As easy as he is to listen to the best thing about Webber is he has no schtick. No bullshit. No Mark Jackson garbage. My favorite newish color commentator of the 3 sports I watch. He is likable and pleasant and smart. Nice combination. I remember enduring Bill Walton for years. I think a few of us remember how bad he was and then how much worse he got when his ego completely took over.

This is refreshingly true.

Bill Walton is the worst comnentator I've ever heard. The fact that he still does college games for the four letter is absurd.

I, too, have enjoyed the Albert/Webber combo. I wish they had the finals.

Maybe, but it's a huge part of their overall game and served them quite well the last 2 years. For those guys, especially Curry, any amount of daylight on their shot from ~27 feet and in regardless of the shit clock (unless holding a lead and needing to work the clock of course) is as good as most teams moving the ball around to get a good look. They're just so god damned fun to watch I don't want them to change a damn thing to be honest. It's definitely a selfish view of mine.

I've been enjoying the college games because it's totally obvious he's higher than a freaking kite on every broadcast. Lol.

Two court side tickets for Game 7 went for $29 000 each. Yikes!
Popular team in the land of millionaires with more money than they know what to do with. Can only imagine what an NBA Finals Game 7 would pull in.

Controlling emotion is going to be critical for both clubs tonight. Needless to say, I like GS as the home team... but can Draymond keep it in check? How will KD respond to his sub-par finish in game 6? Which X factor (Bogut, Barnes? Roberson, Ibaka?) will tilt the balance?
This is exciting!!!

Predictions? Pretty funny listing Simmons' Friday podcast today. Webster's entry for "recency bias" should have his picture next to it.

I grabbed GSW +300 for the title when they were down 3-1, but that was a total flier...

I think GS wins like, 110-102 with the game being really close until the fourth quarter when OKC presses and becomes too one dimensional on offense.

From Steve Kerr's pregame Q&A:

Q: Will you use the lineup that you used to start the third quarter last game to start this game?
A: I have made 11 alterations to the game plan, none of which I will share with you. Thanks for your question.

I think OKC stays in the game for 1-2 quarters and then GS takes control and wins comfortably.

I can't remember being this excited to watch an NBA game in a long, long time. Hopefully, it's as good as it could be.

OKC just doesn't have the same energy on defense. They aren't closing out Curry as quickly and that's a recipe for disaster.

As absurd as it sounds, I think I wouldn't have an issue with Curry taking every shot, from wherever, and just see how the chips fall. Other than Thompson, I don't think anyone else shooting the ball for Golden State is a better shot than Curry shooting, no matter how contested. He's that fucking ridiculous. There is almost no such thing as a a bad shot for Curry.
