Heathcott is also on the AAA DL currently, and Mason Williams isn't back from last year's injury yet either.

Seems like an organizational failure to not have a RH-hitting outfielder prospect in AAA ball for emergency situations. Tyler Austin hit a wall two years ago.

It's the Sandoval Gambit!
Actually, Yanks prefer the full one-year suspension thing without pay, but since Alex has repented, and paid for his sins, the DL is the best they can do. Despite his recent hitting surge, this move to the DL makes NY a better team, just by removing the statue named Beltran from RF.

Same thing with Boston. Gotta love Travis Shaw and that sweet swing. Gonzo-like!

We saw this last night, Schoop on second and a single to RF, but he didn't risk going home on Hicks' cannon of an arm where he almost certainly would have gone on Beltran, and he ended up stranded in a 0-0 game.

Yes, how many runs saved does Hicks accumulate in RF over Beltran in a month?

A-Rod hurts this team in a variety of ways, giving just his occasional power in return. He hurts them on the bases, too.

Heh, that's the one! He obviously hasn't hit at all this year, but it's only been 30 ABs, and he showed promise at the plate last year at 25, especially against lefties (.870 OPS). He's pretty clearly their best defensive outfielder at this point, good range and an insanely strong arm, and Beltran has become increasingly immobile.

Sox fans are going to enjoy this Yankee season. Clearly, this is the worst Yankee team since the early 1990s. Opponents can neutralize the only obvious strength by getting ahead on the scoreboard in the first six innings. Then the three-headed bullpen doesn't mean squat.
