For some reason the radio was tuned in to WEEI this morning and the car and Gerry refers to MMQB's female reporter as "on MMBQ, that Judy Ventras". Minihane corrects him and says Jenny, to which he replies, " whatever, Jenny." His voice dripping with disdain for a female sports writer. Look forward to the next time they have Julie MacMullan on.

Started my car this morning and 93.7 was on. They were debating if god came down and allowed you to select one prisoner to get anally raped who would you pick?

Compelling radio. It's funny T&R get labeled as the childish morons.

I get that people watch football games and that it's not a sport to listen to like baseball; but nobody listens to Patriots radio broadcasts? I guess I live a weird lifestyle that doesn't allow me to stay home every Sunday from August to February.

Is the root of this Gary Tanguay not getting the gig?

Tanguay can't announce D-2 football games never mind professional. Just because he sounds like a broadcaster, doesn't mean he can actually do it.

I thought the root of this is that some of those quotes by Socci were pretty self-important and silly.
The teams radio play by play broadcaster is going to the combine? Now that the season is over he'll have more time for his family and can be a better husband and father? Now I'm sure he takes his job seriously and he puts in lots of hours studying but this isn't baseball he isn't calling 162 games with 2 week long road trips. He calls 20ish games a year and travels for 20 or 30 days in that period.

I love Chad(obviously D&C don't) but I thought that was a silly article with several very silly quotes that were worth mocking.

And holy hell the thought of Tanguay calling anything is terrifying.

It appears they've been completely let off their leash wrt discussing politics. This show is officially 100% unlistenable for the next 9 months.

Are they actually supporting Trump? Sounded like maybe they were warming up to the idea. But it was more bashing Sanders /Clinton than anything else, at least when I was listening. I figured Gerry to be a Cruz guy.

I flipped over during a T&R commercial break and couldn't leave fast enough. They're back at their absolute worst again. With football season over I don't see any reason to even check in again for the next few months.

No I don't think any of them are Trump guys. Gerry's probably Cruz now that Christie bowed out. Kirk tried to make Trump elaborate on water boarding and other forms of torture but he wouldn't go any further. They actually asked him decent questions.

Trump did them a solid by coming on their show and giving them some nice free publicity. This morning they were very anti-either dem candidate much more than pro-Trump.
They did mention the show would be better if they had more political disagreement between them.

Now that Christie dropped out? I don't believe he was ever a Christie guy. He's still pissed at him for hugging Obama in 2012.

So I walk into the gym locker room about a half hour ago. A guy in there has the radio playing on his phone sitting in the locker next to mine. I'm in the space for about 4 seconds when I hear some combination of a caller, Minhane(I think) and Tanguay(I think) discussing just how overrated Paul Pierce is. It didn't sound like *if*, but how much.

Well for anyone complaining about how the show got worse yesterday talking about politics you now know that it wasn't the worst of it. Tanguay is on today and that makes any show worse, I turned over to it heard his voice and instantly turned it off.

Although I do think Pierce is overrated, very good but overrated.

Gerry is a Cruz guy. Thinks Trump is vapid and too liberal. Was never a Christie fan because of the Obama hug.

I thought Minihane would bring more of a liberal perspective, but he seems to be pretty lockstep with Gerry in regards to politics. Or maybe he's apolitical and just doesn't care enough to get into it.

And yes, I'm a loser for knowing all of that.

Minehane is very much a libertarian and was a Rand Paul guy, certainly not in lockstep with Gerry socially.

Yeah, that's true. But he certainly hasn't brought a different voice during the paranoid Bernie rantings this week.

I had it on for a few minutes maybe 2 weeks ago and they were just railing on Curtis since apparently he went to management and complained about them. I figured this was just a running gag on the show. Kirk is such a dickhead all the time, it's hard to tell what's real and what's fake. Kirk must be the most deplorable person on radio in Boston. I'd rather listen to Tanguay.

Is there a reason why these guys never talk about the Celtics or Bruins? There's only so much Patriots talk you can stretch in a rather quiet off season and I feel like they're grasping at straws trying to find something controversial about the Red Sox rattle about.

John and Gerry don't like basketball or hockey. They've always gone out of their way to avoid talking about either sport, but would have boring Brad Faxon come on and have awful segments about golf during the majors because Dennis loves golf.

Man, they were just awful in talking about the video released yesterday with men reading misogynist tweets to female sportscasters. Mocking it. As though those dumb broads just need to toughen up and it comes with the territory.

I listened for about three minutes as a cogent listener explained the very real differences in expectations that women have of experiencing violence in the real world, and Kirk was like, "obviously, it's a problem. Violence against women is a problem. But these are tweets!"

Women are basically being chased off the internet and these guys couldn't care less. Their powers of empathy are so infinitesimal it's mind-boggling. Just step outside your own existence for one fucking second, guys. One second.

Did Dennis weigh in on this? Because his relationship with Twitter is a bit sketchy and he should have a little sympathy.

Kirk and Callahan are two of the least empathetic people I've ever heard. They're true assholes. (Dennis fits into this category too, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here since I didn't listen to the segment this morning.)

Was that what Kirk's rant was about this AM? Saw a number of SM references to an epic rant, but there was no mention of the actual topic of the rant.
In the most sarcastic way possible he was ranting about how other shows would only talk about sports because they were too afraid to broach other subjects (politics) and go outside the box. He was mocking vanilla sports talk in general. He also got into how producers would talk about how fun those spots were until sponsors complained about them.

Hot take Tanguay in this morning for Kirk. Said the reason Brady (or his team) hasn't filed a lawsuit is because he knows he's guilty. Said the PSI information and Ideal Gas Law was crap and nothing but a smoke screen.

That's just Tanguay boning up on his "reasonable Boston sportsjournalist" cred for those out of town media availabilities.

Holy fuck, KM's "NEPOTISM!!!" rant on BB's son, Steve Belichick's hire as the safeties coach was so idiotic.

SB has been around for a long time and has come up through the ranks. His new position is par for the course for BB's practice hiring and promoting young coaches. Mangeni was a ball boy at 23 and worked for BB as a public relations intern for god's sake. KM, who couldn't name last year's NEP safeties coach to save his seat on the show, should stick to making fun of Hilary and Sanders.

Man, Callahan and company sure are obsessed with Jessicer Mendozer and what she has to say during SNB. If only they could break down the game this well.

Callahan and Minihane have vendettas against her (Curt related, I'm sure), so I bet they were waiting to pounce on her miscall of Wright's pitch selection on the bomb anyhow.
She's meh to me, but every mistake she makes is going to be magnified because of her uphill climb.
Ripping the Mother's Day segment in the booth last night, was fine to me though.

Then again, Baseball Tonight devoted a 5 minute segment to Dallas Braden talking to his grandmother about his perfect game, so I guess you could see it coming.

My ESPN bar is set pretty low. Only Rick Sutcliffe consistenly goes beneath it.

To be clear, I didn't actually hear what they said. And I was speaking a bit tongue in cheek, because my sense is that in addition to Schilling, they don't think a woman should do this job. With that in mind, I'm guessing they wont be ripping the parade of tributes on Father's Day.

She's no better or worse than about 99% of those doing the same job. I wonder what their gripe could be about?
Yes, she is one in a long line of completely unqualified ex-jocks who don't make particularly good commentators on the game they used to play (or almost the game she used to play in her case). I'm less offended by her than I was by Joe Morgan or Tim McCarver for example. She just blandly blathers rather than being aggressively stupid like those two were. And at least she could possibly improve with experience.

She seems to suffer from the same thing most people do when they first get a gig like this - she never shuts up. Just let the game breathe a bit. If she learns that sometimes less is more she will be fine in the gig.

I got in my car this morning right at like 6 and EEI was on from the sox game last night. They were talking about John Dennis going away and if he could still get it up for his wife. Someone chimed in that she had to be disappointed, by she has already had the biggest penis ever...and Callahan under his breath says something along the lines of...she had sex with Holley? A bizarre 2 minutes.

I missed the show today but I'm sure unisex bathrooms, Papi roid rumors and Joe Pa revisited made their way into the discussion at some point.
