I think the suggestion was "Pats were willing to take risk on him" as much as anything else. I don't think it was a firm prediction that if Dallas didn't take him, he would have slid to 60 for PatsAll good points. I just don't get how they can say the Patriots would have drafted him. The farther down the board Smith traveled the more teams would have gambled on him. Either way I dont think he makes it to 60.
That's how I read it: RapSheet was told that the Pats would take him, if he was there ... not that the only other team that was interested was NEI think the suggestion was "Pats were willing to take risk on him" as much as anything else. How'd a post from 1995 show up in this thread?Dick Vitale is hilarious!
Nope, but I'm hoping for a WR (Cooper/Braverman?) or a RB (Dixon/Booker)Just a few picks away...any ideas where Bill is going to go?

Why is he still around? Red flags??Billings is sliding...and a good value

Couple years younger would be nice too, 24YO rookie.http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/malcolm-mitchell?id=2555216
Like that they are taking a shot, but desperately wish he was about 2 inches taller.
I actually think that's probably why the Pats like him a bit. More mature, character guy, probably able to step in and learn quicker, etc.Couple years younger would be nice too, 24YO rookie.
He couldn't read until college, then learned and wrote a children's book, which he reads to urban kids in grade school.I've seen that profile on him where he joined the women's book club. It's pretty funny and cool. I have no idea if he's a good wr, however.
In McKenzie We Trust.
This and your signature are amusing to see together! Women, of course...I actually think that's probably why the Pats like him a bit. More mature, character guy, probably able to step in and learn quicker, etc.
Celebrating a teammate's TD, no less.Torn ACL as Sophomore explains his age.
Believe it or not, he's actually one of the fastest WR's in this draft at 4.45. Only Fuller at 4.32 ran a sub 4.39. Mitchell is tied for 5th fastest among all WR's at 4.45. It's not a speed class, that's for sure. And wish he ran faster. We have a lot of average speed receivers on this team and have rarely given Brady a deep threat
He was the fifth fastest WR at the combine. And wish he ran faster. We have a lot of average speed receivers on this team already and have rarely given Brady a deep threat
2 down player, scheme inflexible. sort of like Ohio State Michael Bennett last year? Why is he still around? Red flags??
Screw ESPN. Other than the baseball game last Sunday night I can't remember the last time I watched that network.ESPN literally skipped any mention of the Patriots 4th round selection and went right onto reporting on the next pick. The war continues.
