Had absolutely no business winning that one. Fortunately they stumbled into the one team in the league they could get away with it.

They play Pitt tomorrow afternoon but based on what I've seen about the last month Duke will beat UNC by 6-10 points on Wednesday and probably go on to win the league. They're two teams going in the opposite direction.

When they're not making threes Duke will shoot a ton of FTs on Allen/Ingram drives like Notre Dame did last Saturday b/c UNC's guards can't keep anybody in front of them and their bigs are all foul prone, and Duke will probably play zone mostly and force Carolina to make shots, which they don't do with any consistency, especially Paige the last several games and Jackson the entire ACC slate.

Heels looking dominant today. If they play like this they are contenders. No one is going to beat them in their house the rest of this year. We'll see if they can play like this on neutral floors when it matters.

Offensive rebounds were something like 19 to 1 in favor of Pitt. If they weren't so dreadful shooting the ball it would have been much, much closer.

I guess given the political season has you managing expectations. UNC will be big favorites Wednesday

Days like this are when my family stops talking - dad went to Duke, aunt to Carolina, her husband to Duke, their son to UNC. Buckle up.

Go to hell Carolina.

Congrats to your dad's sister for marrying up, but she couldn't even make it last a generation. Weakest link and all that.

I think Roy feels bad about Duke's lack of depth and decided to play the last five minutes with 4 players. The only explanation for Luke Maye playing that much.

Excited this is the last year of the long, awful Plumlee run, and we can get some real centers in there hopefully.

Game is over with Plumlee basically done as he can't play hard with 4 fouls rest of the game, Jefferson hurt as he has been past 3 months, Jones hurt and out. We're playing 4 real players, of which 3 are freshman (1 of which should be in high school), a sophomore and a practice squad guy freshman. Hopefully it will be two healthy teams for the game later this season.

Congrats guys. UNC got outplayed and badly outcoached the last six minutes but it's what this "rivalry" has become.

It's turned into old-time Yankees/Red Sox with Duke having a 28-12 record v. UNC over the last 40. "Rivalry," indeed!

It's time for Roy to go. He's been an awful in-game coach for years. He's a hell of a recruiter, but that's it. To get a rebound down 1 with 18 seconds to play and not call timeout is inexcusable.

Duke 11-3 in last 14 vs UNC, and won 4 straight.

He ain't a great recruiter any more.

I mean Roy deserves his share of the blame obviously but the kids did a really really really bad job of executing too. Paige and Berry were a combined 4 of 22. They were 1-13 as a team from three. Even with Brice going HAM, you need somebody else at some point to contribute and they got nothing.

Brandon Ingram: only Duke player in the last 20 seasons with 20 points & 10 rebounds in his 1st career game vs UNC

He's losing players because of the cloud that's been hanging over the program regarding cheating. He's getting to the final round with players and then they are choosing to go elsewhere - who wants to potentially miss the postseason?

That's one way of looking at it - the other way is his anachronistic two bigs, no floor spacing/driving offense isn't what elite kids want to play in. You guys run the offense kids see NBA teams running, high ball screens, space the floor, lots of room to drive and kick.

He's also done stupid shit with lineups like play Larry Drew II over Kendall Marshall for half a season, Dexter Strickland and some other wing player over PJ Hairston (before he went rogue) and even this year you could make a strong argument Isaiah Hicks should be starting over Kennedy Meeks and some highly-rated guys have come in (McAdoo specifically) and not developed or been used properly or as much as they should have been to showcase their skills..

Of UNC's 12 wins, 6 were in the Hansbrough era (UNC went 6-2 in those 4 years). So Duke is 26-6 in non-Hansbrough games. That's a beat down.

Roy is 4-17 against Duke sans Hansbrough. 1-3 before and 3-14 since, including a remarkable 2-7 at the Smith Center since he graduated.

Duke is landing more of the blue chip talent. Ingram, Rivers, Irving, Winslow, Okafor, Parker, etc. It's not surprising to me that they are dominating the series.

The praise would flow much easier if Duke had lost. The Blue Devils, already down to six players in their rotation, lost one of their starters a dozen minutes into the game. The remaining five were out there, alone–the last vikings in the battle, the smoldering ashes of their boats on the shore behind them. They were fighting impossible odds: On the road, against a top-five team, missing two of their three captains and having no one dependable that they could sub in.

The five players finished the final 7:43 of the first half and went back out for the second half. They spent nearly 14 consecutive minutes on the floor. When Marshall Plumlee picked up his fourth foul with 14 minutes left, he went to the bench, leaving Duke without all three of its captains, and with four freshmen and a sophomore on the floor.

We hear it from coaches all the time–We had injuries. We had foul trouble. We’re young. Duke suffered from all three problems at once. Plumlee returned with nearly 11 minutes left, and the same five Blue Devils that had been out there most of the night finished the game, playing 10:55 without a sub. Coach Mike Krzyzewski, who two years ago subbed five players at a time on a regular basis, changing the entire lineup on the floor, made two subs in the entire second half.

You know things are grim on the injury front when Duke has to finish the game with a guy on the court that looks like me.

I fear this season is mirroring the Pats - insane injuries, everyone eventually gets back for the playoffs but it's suddenly a new team without enough reps to get everyone on the same page.

Guards made shots, pretty much all it boils down to.

Glad for Roy and the kids (and us fans too). I wasn't real sure how today was going to go.

The ACC tourney seedings are going to be a cluster. I think UNC is safe for a double bye after today's win but there are probably going to be multiple teams with 5-6 league losses and tiebreaks will determine the seeding

At UNC they say Brice being Brice, like Manny. He's an airhead who picks and chooses when he wants to get involved.

He's been their most consistent offensive player by far this year. Defensively he's not as good as he could be and he lacks a mid-range game.

I know. And he's a senior. nba don't draft finally turn it on seniors (that are only sometimes on). Hence the answer to Red's question.

Bit of a douche move but not suspension worthy. Grayson has some Danny Ainge in him.
