right here
Anyone want to guess on his ice time the rest of the game?
What about if it was Trotman / the good Miller / Morrow / etc

He's terrible on defense, terrible with the puck, and is now passing it to the other team for one timers in the slot.

Seriously, fuck you Kevan Miller. Do you have money on the game? Holy shit.

If he isn't benched after that, he'll never be benched. The turnover directly into a goal would be bad enough for anyone else, let alone after you'd been apart of 2 GA in the previous 5 minutes.

It's not a toughness or a big western conference team thing. It's a talent on defense issue. Too many AHL guys playing too many minutes.

Screw it, I'm going to go do something more fun than watching Kevan Miller play hockey.

Like laundry.

Or ripping out my own toenails.

There's only so long a team can hang around the playoff race dressing 1 top 4 NHL defenseman (who's probably a 2nd pairing guy at this point in his career) 2 number 5's and, and 3 AHL'ers every night.

I'm not even sure this defense would compete well in the AHL.

I missed out on this one, but could the reason Sweeney and Neely haven't taken the Miller Problem out of Claude's hands for him be that, like Claude, they don't see him as any worse than the other defensemen? I can buy that, considering they were the team that traded a draft pick for Zac Rinaldo.

Could this be Claude's way of telling Sweeney to get him another Defenseman?
I laughed, even though I assume you didn't intend comedy. It's a good question though, is Miller still getting TOI because of Clod, the FO, or both? There's certainly enough blame to go around, since everyone saw problems with the D construction during the offseason and there's no reason why he should still be getting meaningful minutes.

I'm trying to really figure out who is responsible for Miller getting so much ice time. I honestly see that as Claude giving Sweeney a direct shot: This is the D I have, and they're going to get torn up in the playoffs and I'm showing you what they can do and its us getting blown out by 7 and its not enough so get me a damn defenseman who isn't AHL-level.
Either that or Claude is fucking blind and sees a C instead of a K on Miller's backplate and doesn't realize he's sending the wrong miller out.

I posted this in the Miller thread on the main board, but the numbers indicate that Kevan Miller has been their 3rd or 4th best defenseman in the Bruins this year. That is why he is playing. By pretty much every metric, he's been better than Seidenberg, McQuaid, Morrow and Trotman. Julien is playing Miller because he feels Miller is one of his top 6 defenseman, and the numbers agree with Julien's decision. It's infuriating when he has a night like last night, but there isn't much they can do. Our defense is bad. There aren't many better options. Yes, Colin Miller should be playing. But there's a better argument to be made that C. Miller's ice time should come at the expense of Trotman, Morrow, McQuaid and Seidenberg than Kevan Miller. It is what it is. They need big time defensive help.

If they're going to suck on defense, it's better to lose while developing guys with upside like Colin Miller, Morrow or even Trotman (who I think is probably a career AHLer but at least he's under control for three more years) then giving 20 minutes a night to a 28 year old UFA who's probably going to be riding busses in another organization for the rest of his career. The fact that Sweeney hasn't outright released him yet is making me seriously question if management knows what the hell they're doing.

I don't necessarily disagree, but the FO has been pretty vocal and steadfast about their desire to make the playoffs. Julien is trying to win games and so he's playing the guys he feels gives him the best chance to win.
