I will admit that I underestimated Denver's defense all year. I knew they were very good but I didn't think they were dominant like that. If you had shown me Denver's offensive stats for a each playoff game a few months ago, I would have said they had no chance
Potentially once in a lifetime D. They won't be able to keep it complete next year, so,this win is all the sweeter!

His transformation of the team from an offensive juggernaut to a defensive one in 2-3 years is astounding and deserves praise.
Praise for what? By identifying that DeMarcus Ware, Aqib Talib, and TJ Ward were good players and paying them a boat load of cash? Let's not go crazy here. He watched his team get their asses kicked 2 years ago and then signed every top FA at a position of need. Sure - give him credit for closing those deals but he wasn't some kind of mastermind here.

Silly me. I thought the role of a gm is to sign and draft quality football players who can help a team win. A big part of the defense was built with draft picks: Wolfe, Jackson, Williams, travathan, Marshall, Harris, roby, etc.

He has also done a good job at not overpaying (or paying at all) his own free agents so he's had the money to spend in free agency.

Do you realize the last first round pick the Broncos have used on an offensive player is on Tim Tebow? Elway has clearly made it his mission to build a great D even if the offense suffered a bit, and he's augmented his draft picks with the free agents you mention. Obviously, it's worked.

He clearly made it his mission 2 years ago when he realized his defense was too soft to win a title. And what does the 1st round picks matter? He used 2nd round picks in recent years on Ball, Latimer, Osweiler, and a 3rd on Hillman. Using the first round pick data is quite misleading. He has spent plenty of valuable resources on the offense - Osweiler and Hillman were good picks. Ball and Latimer clearly weren't but I'm not arguing against his draft record.

He also signed his QB in FA, added a great WR in Sanders in FA, already had a very good TE in Thomas up until this year (he gets credit for recognizing his potential), etc. What position other than OL could he have spent his first round picks on?

Elway deserves credit for recognizing the small window of his team and absolutely nailing it with his FA signings to put them over the top. Peyton, Ware, Sanders, Talib, Ward, etc. were all part of a GFIN strategy that worked like a charm. All of those guys obviously played major roles the past few years.

Congrats to all legit Broncos fans.

But a hearty "eat a dick" to everyone in my Facebook feed and elsewhere who are "Peyton Manning Fans" that have no allegiance to the Broncos or even Colts and just took the daring leap on the Manning wagon 10 years ago. Those people can eat shit.
