Lakers at Sixers -- the resistible force meets the movable object. So much to root against, so many paths to failure... Leonard Pinth-Garnell would have loved this game.

Kobe has 23 shots in 28 minutes, including 4-15 from 3. This is actually one of his better games, shooting right at his season average overall, but well above his season average on 3s.

Philly by double digits.
Kobe goes 7-26 from the field. 4-17 from 3, which actually RAISED his 3pt%.

Made 3 of his first 4 too ... so closed 1-13.

Lakers were -21 in the 32 minutes Kobe played and +9 in the 16 minutes he sat.

The smart and level-headed Zach Lowe in a recent podcast hypothesized that Kobe is the single worst player in the NBA right now (in terms of detrimental impact on the floor). Seems very possible. Cue Steven A. Smith screaming his head off...

Let the season's sacrificial tour commence. Kobe shall be guillotined, pilloried, exsanguinated, or garroted in every arena in the league, and finally sent to der Strafkolonie for inscription.

Not sure if it'll hold up, but the East is outplaying the West so far despite the best two teams (or at least two of the best three) being in the West:

GS/SA: 32 games over .500 combined
Rest of the West: 39 games under .500 combined

I read the Nets Daily blog regularly. It's pretty entertaining to watch their tone change through this season: "Everyone is overlooking us!" (Preseason) to "Fire Hollins and King" (after the 0-7 start) to "We wouldn't trade Hollis-Jefferson to the Celtics for our number one in 2016!" (after wins over Boston and Detroit and a close loss to Cleveland).

The Sixers are leading Denver by 7 with 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter. If you were to poll Philly fans about their four major sports teams, which one would they feel most optimistic about?

I love Kyle Lowry's game. The guy is relentless. He would look good in Celtic green when he is a FA in two years, assuming age doesn't totally slow his game down.

Blatt with a big F-U to Miami Heat fans who anticipated the return of LeBron tonight by announcing this afternoon that LeBron will be sitting out on the second night of this back-to-back.

Its the right thing though. Does Cleveland really want to put stress on LeBron's body for what is essentially a meaningless game in Miami in early December?

The team in 12th place in the East is closer to 1st place (3 1/2 games) than SA is to GS (4 1/2 games).

And the #3 team in the West (OKC) is farther out of first (9 games) than Brooklyn (7.5).

Meanwhile, Paul George has 48 and counting in OT right now. This quarter-season would be all about PG13 if it weren't for SC30 and the Warriors.

Saw a lot of hoops cognoscenti circling this Indiana game as the day Golden State goes down. Dubs drop 44 points in the first quarter. Good grief.

This team is so sick. When Klay gets it going like he is today it allows Stephen to take a breather and it happens just often enough to where they are always flowing as a unit.

Of course everyone is overlooking that the Dubs are going to lose to the best team in the East (per point differential) in a few nights.

Tongue firmly in cheek (but if we had Smart....)

I wonder if the Cs will bring Mickey down from Maine just to have him study Draymond.

As has been the case in nearly every Rocket game this year. Kardashian effect?
About 5 or 6 times tonight he pointlessly fancy-dribbled in place in front of his man for about 20 seconds before passing it either directly to a Net or to a teammate who was forced to throw up a heave at the buzzer.

At least Dwight has physical excuses.

I'm glad the NBA had Miami play a road game. I wasn't sure they were going to this year.

Rondo looks rejuvenated in Sacramento. I don't if it's just playing for the contract or what, but he looked pretty solid last night v. the Knicks, and he's had a number of highlight-reel plays.
