Yeah, I agree with this. Regardless of whether or not you think Canelo beat Lara, he was still able to track him down and lay hands on him enough to make it a close fight. Cotto doesn't have Lara's speed or length and isn't as elusive. Cotto's best chance is to land something big early to keep Canelo thinking. The problem is that it'll require Cotto setting his feet to throw the shot which would put him in real danger against a guy that's a better puncher.I don't see any reason Canelo doesnt walk Cotto down and give him a beating.
Canelo surprised me in every fashion. He has a new fan. Completely outclassed Cotto. I enjoyed being wrong about him. He grew up a lot last night.
His defense was great, body punching, accuracy was solid, counter punching, and his overall command of the moment. At the top of the list for me was him taking away Cotto's left hook. He committed to guarding against it and truly the only time Cotto landed it was when Canelo took a calculated risk in exchanges.
Last night also showed the one glaring flaw in Roach as a trainer. He is tremendous in simplifying a plan A and getting his guy to be a machine but there is no plan B. When his guy's lose that's typically the case, there are very few adjustments mid fight.
I kind of understand the outrage over the wide cards that's sweeping the boxing net today but honestly, Cotto did not win the fight. So they got it right.
Me neither. I'm in Mexico right now, and one of the staff at my hotel asked me last night whether I thought Canelo really won the fight, and he seemed genuinely surprised that I expressed no doubt. I get the sense that Canelo is not as popular here as you would think he'd be. Maybe because he seemingly lacks that stereotypical Mexican boxer warrior mentality.I didn't know people were crying about the scores. I'm surprised because I did not think it was close
It's these types of "controversies" that keep me checked out of the boxing internet. People are so mad the cards were wide, they now feel that cotto was robbed and won the fight.I didn't know people were crying about the scores. I'm surprised because I did not think it was close
Come on man. 5 -1, 3 ko vs that competition?Best in the world. Damn.
Evander needs to give him a call.I honestly can't believe he's that desperate for money. I think he truly is delusional and wants to go out with a belt but please roy, please stop. It made me sad watching him get slept
Who knows, they may have all been stiffs but he was kicking the hell out of guys.Shavers was the hardest puncher that Henderson had ever encountered during his career, at that time Ernie Shavers had never lost and during the year 1971 alone Shavers had 17 professional fights and won them all and most by knockouts.
Pulling hard for Wilder to be successful on a large scale. Exciting knockout homegrown guy heavyweight.Just a heads up for the boxing heads in here, Wilder returns tonight to really kick off the 2016 boxing calendar. On paper it's supposed to be a showcase but Szpilka is pretty tough and has been in there with Jennings and Adamek so he's not a slouch.
That show he put on after the fight was old school WWF. These guys have a fight in between them, maybe if they win they can see each other at the end of the year.Tyson isn't very skilled but the division could use a showman like him.
