Burned . . . Blacklisted
EDIT: Honestly there should be a category for "mediocre pats players who were irrationally hated." Marcus Cannon, Hooman, Dobson, Ellis Hobbs, Ben Watson--there are just a bunch who range from low level starters to high level backups who Pats fans just utterly despise for no reason other than that they're not much better.[/QUOTE]

Would the name of this group be the Kyle Arrington All-Stars?

And can you graduate from said group, as Patrick Chung seems to have achieved in his second stint here?

I think it's true that his injuries have frustrated some fans, but there's also this: Dobson hardly ever gets separation - 'though he did on at least on of those deep throws versus the Giants - and his hands, which pre-draft scouting reports praised, have not shown up in the NFL so much. Every reception is an adventure.

Somewhere
Hard to say that you could expect too much more from a wide receiver drafted around where Dobson was. There have been some very good picks around his range (Torrey Smith, Greg Jennings, Golden Tate, and Randall Cobb) but there have been many, many more players who did very little (or nothing) in the league: Cody Latimer, Limas Sweed, Greg Little, Ryan Broyles, Dexter Jackson, etc. etc.

I'm aware of it and it's 100 percent 1000 yards, not 1500 yards (well I'm not going to say 100 percent but that's what I've had marked down for years unless it's a different bet)

He's at 731 I'm still live if he makes the team next year. Too bad he broke might have locked it up this year
Looks like it was 1K afterall. Prob 60/40 in my favor at this point. Thanks to Dollar for finding the archived posts. His search skills are far superior to mine, I advanced searched everything I could think of by member and couldn't find it.

My search skills failed me until I thought to do a simple Google search instead, and then it showed up.

I think part of the Cannon Hate is tied to his contract, which itself looked rather irrational at the time it was inked and remains a bit of a head scratcher in my book.

Marcus Cannon signed a two year, $8.5 million contract extension with the Patriots on December 11, 2014. Per Field Yates of ESPN Cannon received a $3.2 million signing bonus. Cannon’s contract contains $250,000 in yearly per game active roster bonuses, $100,000 in weight incentives, and $250,000 in playtime incentives.
