They had the fantasy guy on this morning and he suggested starting Brady, Gronk, and Edelman. Someone then asked about Dion Lewis and he said he would think of starting him over Lamar Miller. He also didn't think Tannehill was a good play.

He then was asked about the game itself and said it would be close. Now, that's a completely valid opinion of course, but it doesn't seem to jibe with his fantasy advice. I know that players can be decent fantasy plays and not necessarily be good actual game players but it's hard to see how all those Pats are recommended starts, none of the Fins are, and, if he hits on that it would be a close game.

I was going to bring up that he said it was going to be high scoring and close but you're right that doesn't reconcile with Tannehill and Miller not being worthy of a start. Maybe he sees it as Brady having a great day throwing to Edelman and Gronk while Lewis also has a great day but Blount fumbles a lot and Miami's D returns them all for TDs and keeps it close. Did you ever think of that scenario?

Yeah the fantasy segments are terrible. He tries to come off as some savant naming people who, while they may not be stars, they should be picked up in most 12 team leagues. I don't think Fred has been able to pick one of his recommendations this season. Then taking calls is just dumb because they're such unique scenarios that they don't do anyone any good, regardless of how accurate he actually is.

The uno commercial makes watching the simulcast almost impossible. Rare that an ad would cause me to not want to go to a place....

Did anyone else listen to them bitching about Daylight Savings Time this morning? Jeebus, I feel like I lost 20 pts of IQ just listening to it.

Their primary complaint was about the sun suddenly setting extra early due to DST. I was only able to take about 5 min of it before I couldn't stand it anymore. Please tell me that someone phoned in to point out to them that their bitch is with Standard Time, not DST.

As a bonus, they also had no clue as to the actual reasons why we go on DST, saying that it "has something to do with farmers". This reminds me of my idiot neighbor growing up who stated he had a beef with Cuban immigrants because he "fought against the Communists in WWII", and "now they want to come here".

Standard time really does blow. I wish they'd just go to year round Saving Time. I don't blame them for being pissed, even though they did get every fact wrong. Getting dark at 4:30 sucks.

Another vote for permanent daylight saving time here. I hate daylight wasting time. Who wants all their dark to be after work?

From last year, a suggestion that Mass move to Atlantic time

The same weekend we experience these conflicting emotions, Americans in Arizona and Hawaii will do something foreign to most of us: They won’t change their clocks.

They’ve found one time that works for them all year round. Here in New England, we have that option, too. It’s an alternative to the Eastern Time Zone called Atlantic Standard Time or AST. Used in eastern Canada, the Caribbean, and much of South America, it matches the time we already use in the summer, and would simply mean that in the fall, we don’t have to fall back.

Fred's hate for Jim Irsay did not seem played up or contrived - he just straight up hates the Colts owner. Which, you know, made the segment enetertaining

Felger seems to truly hate Irsay as well. After the Colts game Felger was making fun of the botched fake punt play. He said something along the lines of, "That play must have come from the owner's box, from deep inside a bottle of oxy's." I laughed.

That has to be the worst ad in a long time, coupled with it being played constantly, it's cringe worthy. I drove past an Unos yesterday and had the same thought about the ad making me not wanting to go there at all.

Money called him Oriental. Also I think Fred was so nervous that he had no idea who he was talking about. How the hell does Fred not know who Dave Roberts is? You've been in the Boston market for 9 years.

To be fair, Roberts played for the Sox 11 years ago. I know, I know, he's a legend but it's all down to that one moment. I can see where someone who only knows the guy from that moment and wasn't around (and certainly not in sports radio) when Roberts played in Boston would be unfamiliar with the details on the guy, particularly his heritage. Just looking at Roberts, it's not totally obvious that he's half Japanese.

Fred spoiling the Kansas game might be my favorite moment of the year.
That was pretty damn funny. Eddie's story of waking up in a rental car in the field was great as well.

I was hoping Fred would ask him if he's ever picked up a cigarette off the ground and smoked it or eaten out of a trash can though.

Who was Eddie yelling at in the end? Someone in his hotel room?

Fred knows who Dave Roberts is. He alluded to it after the interview. "He's giving an electric answer, i didn't want to stop him, so for this interview, i didn't know who Dave Roberts is."

also, the most underrated part "I woke up in a rental car in a farm in Idaho, or Iowa"

That the sax was still in the trunk was my favorite detail. And hell yes Fred knew. They did a masterful job letting Money justify all of the minutes spent on Fred's impersonation over the years. Money was money.

Looks like Rich sent up a possible debate on Tuesday at 8:00 between Love 22 and Vermin Supreme. This could be classic train wreck radio.

You see, this is why I can't really listen to these guys. It's an age thing I think. I'm so out of their age demographic it's scares me. I have no fucking idea who, or what, Love 22 and Vermin Supreme are, or is. And I could give a shit less who they are. I've tried to listen to them and get used to them. Some of the stuff they do with Adolfo is pretty funny, I admit. I just can't listen to that loudmouthed, know-it-all Fred Toucher and the adolescent Rich Shertenlieb. I'm in a bad place on my morning commute. I either listen to these children or switch to the racist, homophobic pig Gerry Callahan, or the spoiled brat punk Kirk Minihane who needs a serious beat'in, or the ex-drunk John Dennis. I just want sports, not the juvenilia of these two guys or the right wing falderal of Dennis and Callahan. Lots of NPR for me in the morning. Too bad. Because when they all stick to sports they're all pretty good.

You could always throw on 850 and listen to Mike and Mike White Bread Sports Radio or get Sirius.

My father says the same thing as you do. Although lately he's been listening to T&R constantly after hating them for years.

I commute to Worcester every day so I'm seriously thinking of Sirius.

I did just write that, too. I did.

I just spent 16 hours in 2 days going to Canada and the guy driving had Sirius. It was great to have 10 different focused sports channels. Some were plenty vanilla but then there's 9 other options. I'd definitely get it again if I traveled more outside of New England like I used to.

Re: love 22 and vermin. Basically if they were on the stern show they'd be welcome additions to the whack pack. At least on the old stern show. Not sure what the hell he is since Artie left.

Did anybody catch them play the Bruins goal clip this morning for the contest giveaway around 7:30ish. Had to guess who the goal scorer was. They said it was Ryder but that was most definitely Horton

I was thinking the same thing. I'm positive it was Horton that scored that goal.

I have no idea how Keller is keeping a straight face.
I'm a big fan of the show but turned it off during their opening statements. I have no issue with them taking a swing at something outside of their comfort zone, but I just didn't find eithe for those "candidates" that funny. Did it end up being worth listening to?

I only caught the last couple of minutes while I was in the car and it was equal parts funny and uncomfortable. Certainly not the best radio they've ever done but a hell of a lot more enjoyable than the political content on D&C.

It wasn't their strongest bit, but entertaining. I watched it on CSNNE so I think that helped. I'm not sure it translated that well to radio. There were a LOT of props being used.

Love 22 is certifiable. So he was entertaining, in a "laugh at the mentally ill" kind of way.

Vermin Supreme is doing a VERY bad Weird Al impersonation. He was intolerable.

But hey, it was a half hour where we didn't have to listen to talk about how the Pats are doomed or how the Miley trade sucked, so it was a decent use of time.

I didn't get the Weird Al vibe, but my knowledge of Weird Al is UHF. Vermin did have some good points about keeping Ben Carson around since he'd have the best chance of figuring out a cure for Zombie's Brains if there's a Walking Dead type situation. It's unfortunate he didn't answer Rich's question about how he'd choose which Americans to execute first.

Love 22 is certifiable with his word scoring system.

One of the issues that T&R had when they started at the SH years ago was the negativity of sports talk radio and how their competitors (WEEI) took themselves way too seriously. They try to provide a more tolerable format compared to D&C. Many of their bits hit and some don't.
