Kekich survivesA note of some interest - Fritz Peterson died. He was involved in one of the most interesting trades in baseball history.
What are you reading? my Antonio Conigliaro?Good night. Back to Willa Cather.
It wouldn't. It's the players/roster construction.Let's say, for shats and giggles, that they do fire Cora and make Tek (for instance) the interim. How does that improve the product on the field?
It doesn’tLet's say, for shats and giggles, that they do fire Cora and make Tek (for instance) the interim. How does that improve the product on the field?
they have three DHs, arguablyDid he? I mean he brought in Story because X’s defense was pretty bad
Exactly. So, other than to satisfy some momentary blood lust by a part of the fan base, there's really no reason at this point to fire CoraIt wouldn't. It's the players/roster construction.
I think they would promote Chad Tracy.Let's say, for shats and giggles, that they do fire Cora and make Tek (for instance) the interim. How does that improve the product on the field?
The theory is new manager focuses more on fundamentals/ defense.Let's say, for shats and giggles, that they do fire Cora and make Tek (for instance) the interim. How does that improve the product on the field?
The So Blue Marble, by Dorothy B. Hughes. Everything I have read of hers is amazingly frightening. I guess the best is The Expendable Man, but In a Lonely Place is really good, too. Actually, I have to stop reading in a few minutes, as this stuff will scare me out of sleep.Riveting novel? Don't hold back.
Probably not at all.Let's say, for shats and giggles, that they do fire Cora and make Tek (for instance) the interim. How does that improve the product on the field?
You have watched the last few games right? I know they’re not as bad as they look, but they’re also not the team that went 7-3 out west. They are not playing good baseball right now. Oh I don’t even know why I’m bothering. They’re above .500 as of this moment
Okay, thanks! I'll look into it.The So Blue Marble, by Dorothy B. Hughes. Everything I have read of hers is amazingly frightening. I guess the best is The Expendable Man, but In a Lonely Place is really good, too. Actually, I have to stop reading in a few minutes, as this stuff will scare me out of sleep.
So, you're suggesting these same players are going to play more fundamentally sound because a new manager is imploring them to?The theory is new manager focuses more on fundamentals/ defense.
Empirically, we’ve seen alot of games (arguably enough games) with Cora to know it’s not going to improve with him
That's where I saw my first MLB game. My grandmother was a big baseball fan. She took me to see Elvis there too. All I heard was women screaming. But I got to see the Astrodome (which kinda sucked, TBH).
On a happier note, I just took a picture of the Boomer portrait. Enjoy!I have a really cool wooden portrait of Boomer hanging in my basement, though.
Is he any good on defense? Bring it on.Mayer homered tonight.. just sayin’.
Didn't Bluto tell Flounder to start drinking heavily. To go on the Animal House theme, I feel like if we were being introduced to the on field Sox infield, it would be like when Pinto and Flounder were introduced to Jugdish, Mufalla, Rahim, and Gilgamesh
I wish I got to see Elvis. That's where I saw my first MLB game. My grandmother was a big baseball fan. She took me to see Elvis there too. All I heard was women screaming.
Cool ... will he face AA pitching when he gets to Boston?Mayer homered tonight.. just sayin’.
not particularly, he actually compares to Xander decently on both sides of the ballIs he any good on defense? Bring it on.
Well, there'll be at least three games won that Cora's dumb managing otherwise costs them. More if Varitek or Tracy on whoever takes over has a short learning curve for big league managing.Let's say, for shats and giggles, that they do fire Cora and make Tek (for instance) the interim. How does that improve the product on the field?
Yes, if they play intrasquad games.Cool ... will he face AA pitching when he gets to Boston?
Yucknot particularly, he actually compares to Xander decently on both sides of the ball
I didn’t say imploring. But I am suggesting a leader who focuses, rewards and emphasizes the fundamentals could make a difference. So, you're suggesting these same players are going to play more fundamentally sound because a new manager is imploring them to?
Good advice Indeed. I wonder if beer sales at the game increase as the team plays crappier?Didn't Bluto tell Flounder to start drinking heavily.
Good advice for Red Sox fans right now.
This was in 1970 before he had to get his clothes taken out.I wish I got to see Elvis. We[My parents] had tickets for August 1977 in Portland, ME but he died the day before.
well no, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be successful.Cool ... will he face AA pitching when he gets to Boston?
Well, I admit it would be easier than changing out the players accountable for the on field performanceI’m not guaranteeing it will work, but do feel the current situation is broken so change the leader who is accountable for the on field performance
His clothes were at the Sheraton in South Portland when he died. True story. This was in 1970 before he had to get his clothes taken out.
Or, he could struggle like Rafaelawell no, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be successful.
In my experience the beer lines get shorter because people leave. This means those who remain are much drunker. In fact if you are sitting next to them you never see them after a while because they are either buying more beer or pissing it out.Good advice Indeed. I wonder if beer sales at the game increase as the team plays crappier?
Someone just told me they’re over .500 as of now, nothing to worry about. The bottom line on all this is simple. This team simply does not have enough major league calibre players on this roster. Like the old saying; "you can't make a silk purse out of a pig's ear." This mess falls on the front office for thinking they could do anything with this roster. It is so thin that a single injury has derailed everything.
Are you saying Cora isn’t accountable for the on field performance?Well, I admit it would be easier than changing out the players accountable for the on field performance
that’s true! But it’s also true that he could notOr, he could struggle like Rafaela
I'm simply saying that there's a helluva lot more issues in play than Cora, so firing him might not make much of a difference, if any at all.Are you saying Cora isn’t accountable for the on field performance?
If you are, what is he accountable for?
Henry probably takes a piece of the action. Here's an idea, instead of O'Brien endlessly humping the 50-50 raffle on the broadcast, how about you ask John Henry to look between his couch cushions for $100k for the Jimmy Fund and let us watch the fucking ballgame?
All of the Prairie Trilogy, actually. Catching up on a bunch of the books I was too lazy to read in high school 65 years ago. What are you reading? my Antonio Conigliaro?
