Yup. Aussies needed a golazo to level. England put it away with two pedestrian goals. Just so much easier for them to get up and down the pitch, they've got a consistent level of class that AUS can only occasionally touch.England just too good.
100%I'm sorry, but that's an embarrassment to goalkeeping. that ball should have basically hit her, or at least been a quick kick with her right foot. She was cheated so far to the near post she invited the whole thing. Wasn't even a good shot. Absolutely awful.

And the Aussie RB got her pocket picked by the England winger on the touchline for the second goal. Too easy for the Oppressors.England has been clinical and the Aussie goalie is just not that good. She should have had the 2nd and 3rd goals, her angles have been bad.
Credit the ref for showing a Yellow when deserved at the 10 minute mark. Some of these games have had agonizingly slow/clunky pace of play because of the constant hard fouling with no check from the referee, sometimes leading to actual injuries, and (why not both) sometimes leading to the heavy overplay of serious injury when no foul or injury actually occured. I feel like the refs have to treat these games like the first day back to school for a 3rd grade teacher - start out like a Marine Drill Sergent and you'll have a better chance of ending the day like a cuddly teddy bear.Six minutes seems overly generous
Credit to both sides for very little time wasting in this match.
Yeesh. This is like watching a double feature of Gallipoli and Breaker Morant.
I felt like the ref let a lot of upper body play go without calling a foul, but was on top of the lower body entanglements. And for Spain against England.
Anyone else feel that match was kinda ugly? Just a bunch of route one balls over the top, with an occasional cross mixed in. Only a few breakaways, very little clever interplay except for one of England's goals, and a lot of overly physical play that the ref never put much of a lid on. Even though Sweden-Spain was scoreless for a while I though it was far more watchable, even before you get into the mayhem ending.
Yeah, Spain (and Colombia, and even France) are more fun to watch. And for Spain against England.

Can they pry away Tony Gustavsson from the Matildas?Vlatko resigns.
Will be interesting to see how Crocker and the new US Soccer leadership approach this hire. The US women’s job is of totally different stature than the men’s - prestige and relative pay. It will be an entirely different search process and a chance to get the US back tirades the cutting edge of tactics and player development.
His contract is up in December, but it might not be possible to get him out of the country. Can they pry away Tony Gustavsson from the Matildas?

I liked most of their tournament quite a lot and I could see his "4-4-2, with players clearly understanding what they are doing and a high level of intensity" fitting our player pool potentially quite well. I'll admit that his seeming a bit flummoxed by as simple a tweak by Wiegman putting a back 3 on his two strikers leaves me a little cold on him, but that might just be recency bias. Can they pry away Tony Gustavsson from the Matildas?
