It was after the game that caused the bulk of the issues. So why didn’t Saleh pull Wilson at any point in that game?
Unfair comparison.
What is fun about this is it can be elaborated on. He cheated on his 10/10 girlfriend with his mom’s best friend. His girlfriend responded by dumping him and then getting together with Zach’s best friend. Not to be crass, but can you elaborate? I hadn't heard anything about this.
edit: I guess there's no need. You pretty much laid it out.
No they don't. They're Jets fans.Sorry to our Jets fan friends here, y’all deserve better.
I saw a report later that this wasn't an exact quote, but Saleh paraphrasing.Wilson seems like a real idiot.

Twitter: "Robert Saleh said Zach Wilson reacted with some frustration when he was told the news. "Why me? I want to play" #jets"
That’s the question every Jets fan has been asking since about midway through the 3rd quarter. So why didn’t Saleh pull Wilson at any point in that game?
QBs require leadership and accountability. It's a big part of the job, the team needs to believe. Can we get a 2nd rounder for Zappe?
Let me wet blanket this youngster; that’s a very old and common saying. It was discussed on Michael Kay’s show when discussing Mike White before this news about the change was official. One of the guys I watch SMU with (he sits in the row behind me) has an expression I absolutely love but is more popular in middling college programs than the NFL, “The most popular player on a team is the backup quarterback.” True for the Jets. The troubling part for them is they aren’t going to pick high this year and even maybe next because the rest of this team is very good.
Edit: Jimmy G might learn to love the NYC area.
It’s so true for so many fan bases. it reminds me of the Michael Bishop Era after he won a preseason game here.Sorry I phrased that poorly. I know it’s a somewhat common expression but he was the guy who introduced me to it. I got a real kick out of it.

I would say that his lack of humility is less of a problem than his lack of ability, but if it was the press conference that led to his benching, perhaps Saleh values humility over talent. There’s a decent chance they win that game with White or Flacco out there for the fourth quarter. That’s the question every Jets fan has been asking since about midway through the 3rd quarter.
I truly believe that if not for the postgame press conference Zach would still be starting but that two letter answer was too alarming to be ignored. Wilson HAS to sit until he learns humility. Or how to be an NFL quarterback. Whichever
I think it’s the combination of both humility and ability. I definitely think they win that game on Sunday with White or Flacco, that’s kinda what I was hinting at, but I also can understand why Saleh wanted to show Wilson he had faith in him. He was the quarterback on the field during two comeback wins when he didn’t look great up to those points either. I feel like Saleh wanted to roll with him because he hadn’t been detrimental to the team up until that point, but when he refused to own up to it and you started to hear his teammates talking, there was no other option. I don’t think Wilson is finished in New York yet but I don’t think he’s getting anything handed to him anymore. From this point forward it’s put up or shut up. As it should have been all alongI would say that his lack of humility is less of a problem than his lack of ability, but if it was the press conference that led to his benching, perhaps Saleh values humility over talent. Well…I think you might have the “former Pats QB” part right…Edit: Jimmy G might learn to love the NYC area.
Having totally likeable Jets fans like @luckiestman has been detrimental to the annual Jets thread here on BBtL.Sorry to our Jets fan friends here, y’all deserve better.
I saw a guy on twitter a while back show Bishop highlights saying he would be the MVP in today's NFL because of the wide-open style. tons of people pointed out he was one of the worst QB's ever in the wide-open CFL. I remember an analyst at halftime showing five occasions in a row where Bishop threw to the worst possible receiver and he noted if you tried to throw to the worst guy each play it would be really hard to duplicate that sequence. But to be fair, all of those balls were absolute lasers. It’s so true for so many fan bases. it reminds me of the Michael Bishop Era after he won a preseason game here.
He DID just post on Instagram that his son with the initials JET is his inspiration...Well…I think you might have the “former Pats QB” part right…
I think Wilson has definitely shown humiliatabilityI think it’s the combination of both humility and ability.
Remember that time he beat the Niners in '98 after Drew's finger injury ended his season?? That team went 12-4 and beat the two-time defending NFC Champion Packers in the playoffs. They had Steve Young, Jerry Rice, and TO. Unreal. Its essentially the origin story for Zo's broadcast career, right?
I remember that game. I was fuming (sorry guys, 49er fan here) at the Pats beating the 9ers with the backup QB having such a big game.Remember that time he beat the Niners in '98 after Drew's finger injury ended his season?? The playoff game @ Jacksonville didn't go quite as well.

Side note - those jerseys have to be prime throwback material. Unlike the reds, would never want them back full time, but they’re so good. Ideally they’d include the Starter star logo.

White’s good games look a lot like Mac’s good games. Jets have the most talented team we have had in over a decade so if he is below average but not terrible we can compete.Taking a look at Zach Wilson's lifetime stats, it's safe to say he's never had a game as good as the one Mike White played today.
He's got Vikings, Bills, Lions, and Jags next. If he's for real, he should continue looking good through Christmas.
After the reports about his confidence before the Jacksonville game I don’t see him being active again this season under any circumstances. He’s officially broken
Leaf certainly comes to mind. Tale of the tape:Where does Wilson fall on an all-time bust list? His career isn't over yet, but the 2nd overall pick being a healthy scratch late in year 2 is...bad. My first though is Ryan Leaf, also drafted 2nd overall and started just 18 games in two seasons for the Chargers (with a year missed in between to injury). Not far off of Wilson, 22 starts in two seasons for the Jets and appears to be done (at least with the team that drafted him).

Eh, forget it, luckiest. A second, fourth, and sixth aren't walking through the door this time.Zach can still go to reclamation school. This is all mental with him.
We’re on to Mike White and this is the first thing I thought when I saw he was cleared

Saleh has said the “quarterback is the head of the snake,” and that “you want the head of the snake to be stable.” The Jets will spend the offseason looking for a new quarterback since Wilson, most have accepted, is not the solution.
The Athletic spoke with a dozen players, coaches, staff and others in and around the Jets organization to figure out what went wrong. Some were granted anonymity to speak freely about the inner workings of the team without reprisal. Those conversations painted the picture of a head coach doing his best to keep things together as his players grew increasingly irritated with a young quarterback battling injuries, self-doubt and a frustrated offensive coordinator.
Really is ridiculous how much value they wasted by missing on Darnold/Wilson. In 2018, they obviously could have had Josh Allen. I don't think Josh Allen with the Jets looks like the Bills' Josh Allen...but he certainly would have been better than Darnold. Then, you have Zach Wilson over all of the studs in the 2021 draft. Really would have been interesting had the Jets gone Lance and then you likely give Zach Wilson to Shanahan. Would things have been different? Who knows but I think a guy like Shanahan is the only chance for a guy like Wilson.Has a team ever busted on a pair of top-3 QBs within a 4 year span?
I'm not sure Allen doesn't fail completely with the NYJ either. He had a rough start in Buffalo growing into the job and the NYC media and dysfunctional Jets may have pulled the plug before he figured it out or he may not be in a position to figure it out (Hello Diggs). Forget drafting lance, but if they got the 49ers trade and picked up 2 more 1st Rounders and a 3rd they could have rebuilt so quickly with a good draft.Really is ridiculous how much value they wasted by missing on Darnold/Wilson. And, despite all this, the Jets are still a pretty solid team right now because they've drafted pretty well outside of the QB misses. I mean, Sauce/Wilson/Hall is simply an awesome draft. All 3 were high impact guys this year and there are many future Pro Bowls coming for that group. Hopefully, Hall gets back because he was dynamic for them.
