Oh man. That unearthed something buried deep in the back of my brain. Jesus.

Totally. Shout out to Mike Crispino as well, above replacement level for local. I don't think we'll see a loaded local sports on air crew like the 80's to mid 90's again.Mike Dowling was solid, too. The Boston sports anchor scene was ridiculously deep back then. What a time that was, the local news dynamic is completely different now.
Is there a clip of Mike Tirico's tribute on SNF?
The crazy thing is that Keith Olberman was a weekend sportscaster for Channel 5 for a little while in the early to mid 80s too. Verrrrrry deep bench.Totally. Yes! Good point. The crazy thing is that Keith Olberman was a weekend sportscaster for Channel 5 for a little while in the early to mid 80s too. Verrrrrry deep bench.
The days when we knew all of the local sports anchors and their backups sure seems like a different era. I knew Dowling as an overly aggressive Little League coach when I was a high schooler umping his games.Mike Dowling was solid, too. The Boston sports anchor scene was ridiculously deep back then. What a time that was, the local news dynamic is completely different now.
Thanks. Was looking on their YouTube page. Also couldn't find this video on NBC Sports' website either.
It was on the B side of the Brass Bonanza 45. I still have the record, even though I dont even have a record player anymore. This was a great call of an old school hockey fight and how I first heard of Neumie. I believe this was on the reverse side of a Brass Bonanza tape…or a tape of Tony Harrington singing the national anthem.
God I miss the Whale.
RIP Neumie
