Matt Turner would have saved this.Oh boy.
Edit: I appreciate DCL going into full complaining mode about the quality of the cross before realizing it went in the net.

Liverpool 1 (1.57 xG)
Newcastle 0 (0.21 xG)
A very open and entertaining game at Anfield.
Thanks. It seem much worse with the Salah and Mane 1:1s with the goalie.
re-upping this for relevance. The soccer gods already fucking with the Super League six.
Newcastle have to be happy with this piece of business. Willock’s ability to save a team in a relegation battle could be useful at Arsenal next year.Joe Willock scores his fourth goal for Newcastle since joining on loan from Arsenal.
His goals have helped secure eight points for the Magpies.
no winner for tomorrow's Carabao Cup final....they keep shooting PKs until perpetuityre-upping this for relevance.
Willock would actually help that ARsenal team on the pitch right now...Wow, as an Arsenal supporter I am happy for Joe Willock. I have always enjoyed watching him, pretty dynamic in the midfield.
In the reality, though, I can’t help but think that he is simply going to help Kroenke balance his checkbook with a sale to Newcastle this summer, and that is a little depressing. I know it helps the team, but I am so down on Kroenke that I have conflicting feelings on the profitability of the team.
Hell, they did this same shit last week against Leeds. If you can’t bury your chances, this is what happens in the EPL.Liverpool lost that match long before extra time with wastefulness and complacency. The two points I’d really bitch about losing were the Everton match where Pickford ended Van Dijk’s season and VAR made a mockery of the winner.
Looks like the entire league is quarantining til the end of the season.I'm watching Union Berlin and Werder Bremen. They announced that Union is spending 3 weeks in quarantine as a team, which started just after their last match at Dortmund. It's not clear to me if this is precautionary, especially after cross-town Hertha having 3 consecutive games postponed due to an outbreak, or if it was something that was mandated. Given the increasing restrictions in place here in Germany (for example, our first official curfews started at midnight last night, but last from 10pm to 5am going forward - the law just took affect officially on Saturday), it's not surprising they are affecting the Bundesliga as well.
Down in the 2.B, Holstein Kiel missed a bunch of games for covid. Came back with a win today, still have something like 5 games in the next 15 days or something crazy like that. They're on the heels of Hamburg, a huge club that was cruising toward promotion for much of the season but has had a crap month (including a loss to Sandhausen a couple days ago) and now find themselves fighting for the playoff (3rd) spot.Bundesliga clubs will move into mandatory quarantine for the final two rounds of the season as a preventative measure against any further fixture postponements due to COVID-19.
The German Football League (DFL) confirmed the measures on Thursday. The new protocols see the players and staff from the 18 Bundesliga clubs have their movements restricted from May 2, and then placed into closed training camps for from May 12.
no wonder the German teams wanted early exists from European competitionsLooks like the entire league is quarantining til the end of the season.

Pretty good decision to hold onto Ismaila Sarr.Watford beat Millwall 1-0 and are officially coming back up.
They didn’t look like winning this match anyway, but that decision is simply stunning. VAR is an absolute shambles.looks like red cards will undo West Ham's UCL chances
That was a ludicrous decision. Your foot is going to raise up off the ground when you make that kind of clearance, such that your studs have to be raised somewhat by definition, and if the opponent happens to put his leg in the exact trajectory of said foot at the exact right time there is not much you can do about contacting him with them. They didn’t look like winning this match anyway, but that decision is simply stunning. It's in their DNA at this pointBrighton-esque inability to finish today for Liverpool after Salah's opening goal. Entertaining so far but so many wasted chances... has a late NUFC equalizer written all over it
What's the context on this?Last post in a row, I swear - how can anyone not love Allan Saint-Maximin?

I saw it a little differently in that Balbuena directed his follow-through to (a) send a message and/or (b) leave a mark. It was not a natural follow through. As a grubby defender, I’ll tell you that’s on Chilwell. A couple years ago I earned a cracked shin guard and egg-sized lump by closing down recklessly. Ref rightly whistled me for it.
Players have to have space to follow through. If Chilwell did that to a keeper, it’s a no doubt card on Chilwell. How is this different?
My bad - he was replying to a Liverpool supporter asking him to come to Liverpool in a swap for ManéWhat's the context on this?
I was expecting the Wolves-Burnley and Leeds-ManUtd scorelines to switchIf you set the over/under of number of goals Burnley can score in one training session at 3.5, I’m taking the under.
What the fuck, Wolves?
