Or RB or WR. Or gunner on special teams. I’m sure there’s a lot on the football field he could do with excellence. Absolute world class athlete.I bet Lamar would be a kick ass kick returner
The announcers or the refs? These guys don't know their asses from holes in the ground.
I don't know. Been watching football for 40 years. I think they just made up a rule. What the hell just happened?
calling defensive holding before a kick? really?
It's always the rule, if a hold happens before you kick it you can take it from LOS. Otherwise you'd just tackle everyone on fake punts.I don't know. Been watching football for 40 years. I think they just made up a rule.

Perfect comparison.Harbaugh reminds me of the military "leader" in war movies who's all bluster and no balls ... while Vrabel is the sarcastic, jaded second-in-command who everyone follows when shit gets real
I feel the same way about the few defensive holding on runs that have been called agains the Pats the last couple of years.I must have because I have watched a lot of football going back to 1985 but I don’t remember seeing that call
I'm almost certain I have, because otherwise I wouldn't know the rule. I can't remember a particular instance, probably because it isn't that common and it was probably in some boring punt-fest game.Have you seen it on a kick before? Not theoretically why it exists
But they called it an auto first, it was fourth and 31.It's always the rule, if a hold happens before you kick it you can take it from LOS. Otherwise you'd just tackle everyone on fake punts.
Hmm, yeah I don't know that I've ever seen that. You're right there, thinking about it, I think it was always a hold inside. But they called it an auto first, it was fourth and 31.
They must’ve called it a hold on an eligible receiver. I don’t recall ever seeing that called on a conventional punt.
The only time I've seen a kicking team get a first down after a punt is a running into or roughing the kicker penalty. I have never seen a defensive hold on a punt, ever. It's probably happened, but that was weird. If there was not 8 seconds left on the clock, that would be been a game changing penalty. But they called it an auto first, it was fourth and 31.

EDIT - I’m wrong:

if it was after the kick, yes.The call is they just penalize the receiving team, rather than treat it like a roughing the kicker, with kicking team keeping posession.
Unless they called the wrong number, I think the call itself sucked, but I wasn’t aware that a holding call on the defense (ie receiving team) prior to the kick by rule would be an auto first. It makes sense because the punt is a play with five eligible receivers/subject to all normal rules for an offensive formation, but it’s a rare call (usually that’s called where the defense runs a stunt where a guy like Justin Smith of the old Niners would hold the blocker for a looping rusher) on punts so I wasn’t putting it together. The only time I've seen a kicking team get a first down after a punt is a running into or roughing the kicker penalty. In this instance, it had no impact but it was still BS.
Primarily the RPO and that their receiversBaltimore scored 5 less points than the Chiefs this season. And they went 11-5 and have made the playoffs three straight years.
What did the league figure out?
Primarily, IMO, that the RPO is a novelty like the Wildcat which doesn't really work all that well at the NFL level as a core concept. Their points scored was bolstered nicely by their final four games where they scored over 40 points twice and Lamar seemed like he was freer to run if he didn't see the routes developing. Most of his best rushing games happened in Dec/Jan and they only scored over 40 points in December. They scored 63 more points last year fwiw.Baltimore scored 5 less points than the Chiefs this season. And they went 11-5 and have made the playoffs three straight years.
What did the league figure out?
When the Ravens are on their game, this is what they do to even good defenses. It's weird. It's like watching a team from the 50s, but with new run concepts and WAY bigger, faster, and better athletes.Titans D getting steamrolled.

This is one of those classic "Can't it be both?" situations. The announcers or the refs?
