Kane looked close but on.Surprised we didn't get a VAR check for offside in the buildup with those stupid lines on the screen.
He's not defensively sound enough yet to play LB and Son has been getting all the minutes as the left-sided attacker. But I'd like to see him get more playing time, Mourinho should be rotating much more than he has.Whither Sessegnon? Two years ago he was the future of English football.
yup. That was a really lame half of football from Everton.
Twice!Fair play to Palace for staying in the match after going 2 down to Chesea.
I'm not a fan of these drinks breaks. They're essentially time outs.Twice!
Is it my imagination or are goals being scored in bunches right after the drinks breaks?
They change the game for sure. You could probably make them discretionary I think. The temp is like 17 degrees in London right now. This is different from playing on a very hot Saturday afternoon.I'm not a fan of these drinks breaks. They're essentially time outs.
I agree. They were really unlucky with the first goal. (I have no problem with Willian not stopping or kicking the ball out though.) It just wasn't their night. Good to see Benteke get a goal though. That was fun. No idea how Palace didn't score at the end. They deserved something from the match.
I think I agree with all of this, although I'm not 100% sure that Vardy was definitely offside when the second player (Perez?) got his heel to the ball. It seemed like the VAR review was looking at this, but we never got a definitive view of whether Vardy was both beyond the last defender and the ball at the crucial moment. But yeah, it was a great performance, although in fairness Martinez had to make quite a few good saves as well, as Leicester often looked dangerous in attack. It was one of those reckless but not particularly harmful challenges that was almost never a red in a pre-VAR world but which looks really terrible in slow motion so a red these days.
I think the goal was actually offside. It looked to me like the second player (Perez?) just barely touched the ball (you can see its movement alter slightly), at which point Vardy was definitely offside. But VAR isn't set up to definitively judge that kind of thing so I can see why they went with the call on the field.
I actually thought this might have been Arsenal's best performance under Arteta. We played them off the pitch in the first half but we (or, more precisely, Laca) just didn't finish chances and then two very close decisions went against us. Shit happens.
They showed one shot with both actions occurring at the same time (crappy screenshot below). I'm looking at it again and while it seems like Vardy was marginally ahead of Mustafi (what I focused on in first viewing), it also appears that maybe Perez and the ball are ahead of Mustafi at this point too, which would make it onside.I think I agree with all of this, although I'm not 100% sure that Vardy was definitely offside when the second player (Perez?) got his heel to the ball. That would also be a more effective midfield.Looks a little Eye-of-Sauron-ish to me.
Dyche is the new Pulis. In a good way.West Ham have missed a few chances, Burnley are much more efficient and go into the lead. Rodriguez gets his tenth of the season. Dyche does a ridiculous job at Burnley.
Gomes is nowhere near fit. He won't perform at a high level until next season at the earliest. He was never the most mobile guy anyway. He played well last season with Idrissa Gana Gueye next to him as the 2 in a 4-2-3-1. Gueye covered for him with his speed and range - Gueye being one of the best around in the N'golo Kante ball winning/tackling DM role. Next to Sigurdsson and Tom Davies in a 4-3-3 against Spurs, they were basically traffic cones.Yeah, I'm not sure if Andre Gomes had PTSD from playing Tottenham again or what, but he was really bad Monday. He made Harry Winks look like N'golo Kante.
