Maybe, maybe not. None of this was news to ownership yesterday.Wow this happened fast.
Or hire another manager. I opined in the other thread that they would have more interest in a permanent gig than keeping Cora's seat warm for god knows how long.Red Sox trying to get out ahead of it. Maybe avoid similar penalties.
Really doubt it helps matters any.Red Sox trying to get out ahead of it. Maybe avoid similar penalties.
The problem is that from a managerial seach point of view, shopping for a new guy in January is like doing your Christmas shopping at 8:30 on Christmas Eve in CVS.Or hire another manager. I opined in the other thread that they would have more interest in a permanent gig than keeping Cora's seat warm for god knows how long.
This is pretty much my take. The whole thing is completely overboard and overblown, but given what happened in Houston, kind of saw it coming.Insane overreaction by the league forced their hand. Had to be done.
Yep. But shopping for a placeholder manager in January is even worse. The problem is that from a managerial seach point of view, shopping for a new guy in January is like doing your Christmas shopping at 8:30 on Christmas Eve in CVS.
Or, you know, exactly the opposite. He gets to hire his guy, and build a team his way, with no extreme pressure to win in all immediately.Bloom bought a ticket on the Titanic.
LaRussa was a Dombrowski hire, wasn't he?Don’t be shocked if Henry brings back TLR for a year.
Yes but they were going to keep him on apparently.LaRussa was a Dombrowski hire, wasn't he?
Why? Maybe it accelerates a rebuild. You know, it probably decreases the risk of them trading mookie.
They need attendance after this debacle. Why? Maybe it accelerates a rebuild.
DD & Cora are gone. who else needs to go?The further the Sox separate themselves from this regime, the better. Blow it up. Start building a new era.
Hire a cheater to make up for firing another cheater?Don’t be shocked if Henry brings back TLR for a year.
People aren't going to stop going to games because of Alex Cora. They need attendance after this debacle.
Came here to post basically this. What happens if it turns out like 20 teams did the same thing in 2018? Are all of their managers going to be fired? (Not saying Cora shouldn't have been fired, by the way - it's just a really weird situation right now.) I guess Cora is a bit unique in that he was the alleged mastermind of the 2017 Astros thing which is above and beyond just using the replay room. There are already rumblings that the Dodger and Yankees among others did the same thing, hope MLB is prepared to give those mangers career killing suspensions too. Because of course every team is doing something similar to what the Sox did (unless there's more than just using the replay room)
