What was the scandal? All in all a successful result as a Sox fan. Two biggest rivals lose in ignominious fashion and an embarrassing scandal to boot.
Love Juan Soto. How can you not?ARod looks like when Creed dyed his hair on the Office. Also, I love Juan Soto.
In that case, Chevy guy should have brought out a '55GM strike put them way behind schedule on delivering new Corvettes; factory won’t be tooled to turn them out until early next year.
It’s rare that Bud Lite wasn’t the most awkward guy on the podium.
For real:Bryce who?Love Juan Soto. How can you not?
He is going to be the face of baseball for the next decade and a half.Love Juan Soto. How can you not?
Um, they won it all in 2017. Get back to me if they fail to win another before the turn of the century. If I were a Houston fan in the stands I would be fucking beside myself right now. Maybe approaching 2003 ALCS grade inconsolable.
I believe WAS came from behind in every one (and in the 7th inning or later in every closeout game, too).Congrats to Nats town. They are worthy. 5-0 in elimination games this postseason.
That's great, but if we'd held a 2 run lead late in 2007 WS Game 7 and then it all went to the dogs, and we'd spent a grand so we could be there at a moment of great triumph, we'd all be fucking devastated too. I get that it wasn't one out away, or in extras, but that was pretty high up the pain scale, recent title or not. Not at the pinnacle of it, but pretty damn far up.Um, they won it all in 2017. yea, he gone, and he knows it
Dick's Sporting Goods open and selling merch.Just watching the local news coverage of the celebrations in DC right now and people are drunk and it's awesome
JFC. This is why you lost. It's still super weird that they give the trophy to the owner, have him speak first, etc. The moment is about the rich white guy, people! He's the protagonist here!
No, I was a transplant to Boston and an old man of 24 by that time. Were you one of them? Yikes.
Always heard he’s a huge prick.
Yeah, they cut to the Gaithersburg Dick's and it looked packed for 12:50Dick's Sporting Goods open and selling merch.
I feel like Eaton was totally overlooked in this competition. He was absolutely nails. Much closer call than people are crediting here.Stras getting it has kind of a Conn Smythe feel.
My understanding from ownership is that we're all supposed to Stick To Sports.JFC. This is why you lost.
Really really cold.That is cold
yea him coming up big immediately makes that trade with it in the eyes of all nats fans. def some buyers remorse over the course of the season, but he came up big when it matteredI feel like Eaton was totally overlooked in this competition. i totally forgot he wasnt on the WS winning team. he is almost definitely upset that he wasnt called in, especially after the bullpen completely blew the game.Really really cold.
Is he pissed that he didn’t get used tonight?
after watching grienke cruise, he probably had dreams of being on the mound when they won it all. Hinch definitely went over this strategy with him before the game. id probably be upset too.Hunter AtkinsVerified account @HunterAtkins35 44m44 minutes ago
Hinch said his plan was to go to Osuna and use Cole if they had a lead. Cole would have “closed out the game.”
Yep. I thought the same thing.Looking at the TV coverage, it is nice that for all the (not necessarily untrue) stereotype of baseball fans being mostly white, there are tons of fans of all ethnicities partying in the streets of DC now
Well then don’t diss the guy — that fought to bring the team here even though he’d gotten only a terrible TV deal shared with Peter Angelos, partly funded the stadium, ran the team at a loss for a while, still spends top dollar even though he looks out at half empty stadiums despite being consistent contenders for half a decade or more, and has massive local charities —because of the color of skin.My understanding from ownership is that we're all supposed to Stick To Sports.
My next thought: how the heck did people know that a random Dick's Sporting Goods in Gaithersburg (is that the one in Rio?) would be open at 12:30am selling merch?Yep. I thought the same thing.
And hopefully this win will bring about a surge in interest in this team moving forward in the city.
Yeah, that is the RIO one. I was there the other day, I had no idea it was going to be open.My next thought: how the heck did people know that a random Dick's Sporting Goods in Gaithersburg (is that the one in Rio?) would be open at 12:30am selling merch?
JD Drew hit a $70 million Grand Slam.yea him coming up big immediately makes that trade with it in the eyes of all nats fans. def some buyers remorse over the course of the season, but he came up big when it mattered
He also can't stand the current POTUS, so he's a big winner to me!Well then don’t diss the guy — that fought to bring the team here even though he’d gotten only a terrible TV deal shared with Peter Angelos, partly funded the stadium, ran the team at a loss for a while, still spends top dollar even though he looks out at half empty stadiums despite being consistent contenders for half a decade or more, and has massive local charities —because of the color of skin.
Upthread I'd said this could be the big nut punch loss for this franchise even when compared to 1986, but the ones vs. the Phillies in '80 are probably worse. That's great, but if we'd held a 2 run lead late in 2007 WS Game 7 and then it all went to the dogs, and we'd spent a grand so we could be there at a moment of great triumph, we'd all be fucking devastated too. Kendrick hit .344 with a .966 OPS this season. It's gotta be the quietest OPS+ of 142 in baseball history. And it wasn't like he was a bench guy -- he played in 121 game and had 370 PA.... though he did hit a .900 OPS in his 70 starts, and a 1.278 OPS in games he was a sub. Wow.So glad for the team, but especially three guys:
Zimmerman, who WAS the franchise for a while.
Strasburg, who was unfairly maligned for a 2012 decision he didn't make.
Kendrick, who seems like a great guy who's had a solid career and picked the perfect time to have an amazing month.
