Fred unable to get in from Newton until 7:40 like a real pro. Wallach left Framingham at 4:10 to get in, Fred didn't even get up until 5. You'd think after missing most of last week he'd at least try to get in.

You could tell Rich was REALLY P.O.'d at Fred, but tried to hold it in a bit. Fred just doesn't give a flying F.

His excuse was interesting... I ordered an Uber at 5:15 see?

Unfortunately I think many of us work with a guy like Fred where they know Rich and Wallach will be responsible and get there on time so they'll arrive when they do.

Yet he has the balls to publicly blast Bird for not sending him a Wake Up text.

IT WAS 4:45!

What moron thinks an Uber is going to be reliable in a good sized snow storm at the peak of the storm at 4:45am, I mean outside of Fred? I also found it funny this driveway "can barely fit two cars" yet he couldn't shovel enough to get his wife's SUV out of it. We've all been there, suck it up for 45 min and just do it as far as you need to and back out the SUV.

You'd think Freddy Moneybags would have just stayed in the hotel they provided or hire an actual car service that is more reliable than Uber.

Next time maybe just park the SUV 3 feet from the end of the driveway so you only have to shovel 3-4 feet out. Rich was pissed. The 9:55-10:10 crossover was awesome though.

The crossover was hilarious but, to me, Fred comes across more like the typical guy who, before the storm, bitches about cancellations and parking bans but then rails against the weather guys once the storm comes and there are real issues.

He probably went to sleep last night saying “stupid people preparing like this is gonna be some serious issue” but then blames everyone else once the storm actually delays him

I didn't hear the show this morning, however... I've never been a morning radio host, but it seems to me that having a plan to make sure you can be at the studio on time in the event of bad weather would be a pretty standard thing.

Like staying in the hotel his company was going to pay for the night before? It wasn’t nice enough for him.

When Bird is on... Channel changes. I cannot believe their metrics show this guy as a positive.

My wife works in Labor and Delivery, where missing work due to weather is really frowned upon: planning ahead like this in anticipation of a big storm has been a part of life for over 15 years.

North Shore douche-bro Jared Carrabis got into it with Josh Kantor today too.

Totally posted this in the wrong thread.

Oh man, Josh is doing yeoman's work on twitter. Just calmly explaining again and again performer and composer rights to these absolute ignoramuses.

I am a huge fan of PMT, but between this and the Miel thread, it's getting harder to support them.

Is “get in the bathroom” a thing, and if I ever go to a bar in Southie again, can I reasonably expect to hear some 22 year-old who’s shitfaced at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday yell it out?

You realize you are asking someone about your age and level of washed this question right? If anything is a "thing" with 22-year-olds right now I assure you I am unaware of it.

While it is true that I drink and I know things. I am completely unaware of this particular phrase. I am familiar with Carrabis though. We mixed it up a bit last year on Twitter. For a guy who likes to be brash, uber confident, and take shots at people, he has some gossamer-thin skin.

I just looked at Kantor's twitter... wow. The response from fans and Carrabis alike is basically "eat shit asshole".

edit: if it makes you guys feel better I'm 40 and have no earthly idea what "get in the bathroom" means. Or if it means anything at all.

Such a fucking stupid thing to make a big deal out of too. Nobody cares if Carrabis just says 'my bad dude, we're never using it again starting in the next episode'. Dude has the same thin skin he makes fun of real media for having.

I thought "put him in the bathroom" was a reference to a Bronx Tale?
Put him in the bathroom is from A Bronx Tale. I have no idea what "get in the bathroom" means unless it is a misquote of that movie.

I’m put in mind of how fun it would be to reenact a different scene from that movie with these guys.

Decided to check out the show today thru the download. According to the summary Adam Jones in. Automatic no. Read further on, more Bird. I can't even fathom a more unlistenable show!

Jones has been in for Rich pretty much all week, which means I also listened to other things on my morning commutes.

Fred relies heavily upon Bird for asinine content. It's like the show believes he's some sort of ratings generator. He's an oaf.

I’ve enjoyed Ted Johnson filling in while Rich is out. I like his interaction with Fred better than the Wallach-Fred dynamic. And I like him much better than Jones who sometimes fills in.

I think Ted is fine in small doses but there’s definitely some inner meathead and hot takes looking to get out. To his credit, he’s done a great job of morphing his demeanor to whoever he’s paired with. As a swing host he’s much more interesting than Flynn but that might because I’m used to him by now.

Words can't describe this bit. Holy shit it's hilariously bad. They have Nick and Bird in a bathroom and one of them has to guess how many toilet flushes it will take them to list off some category (ie name ten marvel movies). The Game of Thrones.

I listened to a minute or two on the way home from dropping my kids off at school. And it was awful.

T&R has devolved into a hacky, cliched morning zoo. It's pretty bad.

Edit: I still won't listen to Callahan though. Fuck that guy.

Bingo. I never really got the Toucher & Rich thing, probably because I'm not in their age demographic anymore. But that Callahan prick? Fuck him is right, that racist, homophobic, raging asshole.

Just the fact that they think anyone is entertained by Bird tells me they might just be burned out in Boston. The man is auditory cancer, why can't they understand nobody wants to listen to him??

It's too bad, T&R was such a breath of fresh air for the first several years they started in Boston at 104.1/ 98.5 and maybe it was just because it was new that I didn't see it but whenever I try to listen now it gets changed immediately. Rich being wacky "Can you believe so-so said this!!" schtick and Fred with his fake as hell outrage rants it utterly terrible for me now.

I don't listen everyday like I used to, but I still like T&R. The come up with enough genuinely funny material that I keep tuning in.

Mark Gemelli and his recliners, the "Sarge sucks" thing that snowballed unexpectedly, etc. Their weekly interviews with Mike Gorman are good radio. Blah blah blah.

Agree 100%, I listen almost daily on my commute and it's usually better than most of the stuff out there. Mark Gemelli and Guy from Machine are still all time favorites for me.

At the end of the day, T&R is probably the best show on the two stations. I like their interviews, but everything else is just old. I mean, I don't care about these new morons* that they work with. They all seem like idiots and after awhile listening to an idiot rant and rave and then spending 30 minutes dissecting what he said is boring navel gazing.

* To be fair, even when I listened to Stern, I'd usually change the channel if it sounded like he was going to spend more than five minutes talking to a Whack Packer -- aside from Beetlejuice or Crack Head Bob.

What sucks is that it seems as if T&R feel like they have to lean on these guys to bring the funny. Like Felger and Mazz looking at the dark side of everything, it's lazy, predictable radio. It follows that same formula: here comes Sarge. He's going to say something dumb and loud. Here's Rich acting like he just heard the craziest thing ever and now Fred is perplexed and trying to understand what's going on before dismissing the whole conversation entirely.

Oh I agree too, I only flagged the segment because they leaned into how objectively terrible it was and I appreciate their self deprecation in that regard. It was so bad I ended up laughing through most of it at the absurdity of it all. For the most part, it's refreshing that they are still the only show that's honest with listeners that none of this shit is serious (i.e. I don't need the 10000th fake hot take from Felger that he REALLY believes this time!).

I listen nearly every day and still really enjoy the show. A big part of that is what you said, they tend to admit when their bits and conversations are bad, and they embrace that they're just a couple of fortunate guys talking about sports and nonsense for a living. It's tough to fill 4 hours a day with content and I respect that they don't resort to the stupid tropes that 99% of sports radio does. Sure they do some stuff that doesn't land but I don't think it's fair to call them a morning zoo.

Fred and Rich are aging along with us. They’re not in their early 30s now - they’re solidly middle age, more secure with good contracts, and stable situations. Rich isn’t going to the Fens these days, nor should he. Fred has covered a lot of territory, rant wise, in his time on the air - and there’s only so much bluster you can summon as you get older. It’s a pretty great achievement for a radio career to get where they are with any modicum of authenticity. I’ll forgive them a bit for being a little hacky at times - I trust them pretty implicitly at this point.

It’s too bad they’re kind of tied to the morning commercial radio format - I’d listen to a T&R long form podcast religiously. (You can kind of make one out of their daily shows by picking judiciously, but still - imagine an hour with Gorman, entertainment figures etc). But I guess their value in being in that morning spot is worth the trade off.

LOL, I'm not sure about that bolded part. The older I get the more I want to vent and rant about.

Fred just saying shit to make Gorman uncomfortable was awesome this morning because the stuff was so out in left field that Gorman doesn't react... at all... and there is so much silence I have to check and see if my stream is working.

Yeah, didn't somebody catch Fred a few years back on the old Comcast tv show skimming this thread? Gotta love that he's a SOSH lurker!
