I guess if I come here looking for the game thread, and I don't see it, it's my job to start it.

No Krug tonight (upper body), Cehlarik to Providence . Paul Carey and Connor Clifton up on emergency basis.

Not a huge fan of the lineup this evening.

Marchand - Bergeron - Backes
Carey - Krejci - Coyle
Nordstrom - Frederic - Heinen
Kuraly - Acciari - Wagner

Chara - McAvoy
Moore - Carlo
Kampfer - Clifton

Rask

That's awful. Poor Danton Heinen. It might not be possible to have your center downgraded as much as he just did. I don't think there's a bigger gap in talent between Bergeron and Frederic on any team in the NHL.

Have they tried Backes with Krej? Might not be terrible, Krej can hold the puck for so long it gives Backes time to skate into the offensive zone and well do Backes things.

I know Bruce likes the 4th line as is but I wouldn't be against trying either Kuraly or preferably Wagner with Coyle. Wagner has shown much better hands/speed than I expected.

Heinen needs to be in a top 6 role.

This all makes sense, but this is just how they're starting. Have any B's games lately gone with the lines the same at the end?

I get tinkering- now is the time to try things- but I just don’t understand the Heinen thing. He’s not going to be playing with Frederic and Nordstrom in the playoffs. If anything, they should be trying him with Krejci and Coyle. If they decide to put Pasta back on the top line, Heinen would then play with one of those two.

The only thing I can think of is Heinen is usually defensively responsible and Laine skates on their third line. I’d still rather see him with Bergeron on Krejci, but maybe that’s what Cassidy is thinking. Who knows at this point though. It’s like preseason with all of these guys out.

Huge goal by Chucky there. Jets had a lot of good looks for most of the period.

Looked like Nordstrom was benched there at the end of the period.

Thought that was Frederic’s best period in the NHL.

Good shift for the Frederic line. Started in the own end, they iced it quick but then after the 2nd draw they got possession and eventually got a scoring chance.

The first few shifts of the game were rough as the lines figured themselves out. I think relative positioning was the worst issue (everyone crowding the net, getting stacked and immobile at the blue lines), but they've figured those things out and have been a lot better as the game has gone on. I'm happy the B's can come back from 2 goal deficits, but I don't want them to have to.
