Frankie Molinari hits a version of Tiger’s putt on 18 to post -12.

Azinger calls it the biggest moment of his career, apparently forgetting Frankie winning a major championship less than a year ago.
Was just coming to say the same thing. Was a Ryder Cup star as well as Open champ, but sure Paul.

This looks over.

Another Sunday let down for Rory.

Edit: Someone needs to tell Azinger about Molinari’s Open Championship win. He really has no clue. Mentioned the Ryder Cup and the Italian Open.

It is part of the Open Qualifying series. They do this every year, but change the tournaments around. It is 12 events over the 6 major tours.

When will Tiger realize that he does not look like a badass with the golf hat backwards and those stupid sunglasses? He looks like he's going to a Nickelback concert.
He loves Nickelback...just say’n

I know that - my point was that it doesn't make any sense. Using events in the month between the US Open and the Open Championship mostly makes sense as an indicator of potential form...but Bay Hill, in early March? And I certainly wouldn't be picking the best three players who aren't already eligible - I'd stipulate that they also have to finish in the Top 5, otherwise the spot is filled through some other process (OWGR, alternates from final qualifying, etc.)

Frankly, I'd rather the Open just follow the lead of the Masters and award spots to tournament winners throughout the season, or across a chunk of the season (e.g., on both the European Tour and PGA Tour from January to July), than what we have at present. Or even just focus on the Irish Open and the Scottish Open and pick anyone who finishes in the Top 10 or even the Top 20 in those two weeks leading up to the Open, as proof that those guys can potentially succeed on links courses.

He generally dresses himself poorly when not wearing exactly what Nike tells him to wear. And even Nike hasn’t been able to break his relaxed fit pants preference.

Just show Tiger and ignore the other 2.

Also, I know it is the signature hole, but I don’t need to see every tee shot on 17.

I can see what the guy is saying, but it’s stupid that if it was constructed in the locker room and brought to him it would have been fine.

You don’t know Turkey Vulture? How much golf do you watch!?!
I've been playing and watching a lot of golf for 50 years and its always been a double eagle to me. I've heard it referred to as an albatross on occasion, but that's the first time I've ever heard Turkey Vulture.

I actually thought it saved him par. It looked like that putt was coming in fast enough that it would’ve hopped over.

And all the Hal Sutton highlights remind me that his nickname on tour was "Halimony" due to all his divorces. Potentially my favorite nickname of all time.

Kinda wonder if this will be Mickelson’s last competitive round at Sawgrass. He just doubled 3 to move to +3 and followed that up by rinsing one at 4, so barring a miracle he’s headed to his 6th MC in the last 7 years here. He publicly danced with not playing this year, but showed up enthusastically proclaiming he could win. Nope. I wonder if the Tour or sponsers nudged him to play this year.

Rory eagles 16 to get to -11. Dry on 17. Looks like another final pairing for him. He’ll finish one of these off sooner or later.
