Virginia was down at the half but easily trounced NC State in the second half.

I do think UVA has the same vulnerabilities as usual - NC State sped them up in the first half with some backcourt pressure and they turned the ball over and missed some shots. Had State not been 0-of-8 from three, UVA would have been down big at the half.

I think that could catch up to them again should they run into a team capable of getting hot from the floor.

UMBC vs Vermont rematch on a Saturday @ 11am for a berth so you gotta figure UVA will be wary of that!

You know the selection committee is salivating to set up that rematch.
I think UVA wins the natty this year. UNC loses in championship, then wins the next year. Villanova goes 2 of 3. Natural storyline is UVA loses to 16, then wins it all.

At the risk of understatement, Zion does not appear to be playing tentatively.
I bet he has been playing at full speed in practice for 3 or 4 days at this point. But yeah man he looks strong out there. I’m still nervous every time he jumps

I'm not that impressed with Duke. Zion is obviously an incredible player. I'm not sure I've seen a player quite like him before. But otherwise? If you have 3 lottery picks, and two of the top 3 or 4 draft picks, shouldn't you dominate a Syracuse team that's missing it's best player and has only marginal talent to begin with? And Cam Reddish is supposed to be a big-time player? He's been a non-factor every game I've watched. I don't know, Duke just seems somehow less than the sum of its parts.

Uh oh, Cuse is right in it.
SU is painful to watch but they were in that game last night without their best player. Unlike Duke, Syracuse doesn’t have an endless reservoir of McDonalds All Americans upon which to draw when a key player gets hurt.

SU could get waxed in the first round of the NCAAs, or they could be that pain in the butt team that pulls off a few wins and makes it to the Elite Eight.

VCU goes down to URI, still likely garnering an at-large bid though.

Natural storyline is UVA follows up an unprecedented, historically bad performance by doing it 2 years in a row—taking embarrassing failure to a level previously unthinkable.

The worst part is this FSU loss doesn’t remove your 1 seed, so it can happen again.

UMBC plays tomorrow 11am

Yes, they’ll still be a #1, but probably slotted behind the ACC tourney champ (assuming it’s Duke/UNC, and it will be because those guys don’t lose big games to FSU), which will somehow make it work out for them to play UMBC again and we all know what will happen in that game. It will be like Chaminade plus the 1990 football collapse plus the 1991 fraternity house drug raids all rolled into one.

Walton in rare form doing the Oregon/ASU game. Decent odds he says something that goes viral tonight.

Edit: holy shit he is doing "the sprinkler" dance. They are in Vegas...

If those refs had done a Georgetown-Syracuse game in the 80s, someone or someones would have ended up in jail.
