Looking at the box score stats, yards, 1st downs, plays, TOP, this reads like a blow-out
In the end Slater's heads call in OT was the critical play of the game.
I mentioned early in the week about Gilmore coming out to cover Kelce. Well, it came to fruition in the 2nd half even though Gilmore said they never mentioned it to him all week nor did they work on it.
It was supposed to be an all-time great AFC Championship game and it delivered. Not everything is about hating the Patriots. Plus, they had an awesome lead in from another all-time classic that ended 15 minutes before this one began. It should have broken ratings records.
How much of this was people hate watching the pats?
I highly recommend starting where WBH quotes and skipping ahead 50 pages at a time. What a ride.

Just watched ESPN’s afternoon NFL show, and Sal Pal was reporting from KC. He relayed that Reid is still furious that the refs didn’t warn the coaching staff that Ford was lining up too close to the neautral zone throughout the game, so they could have alerted him to back off and not cross over. Reid told Sal Pal that was standard protocol. I’ve never heard of that, and why would it be the officials job to help coach and correct any player? WTF are the coaches for? It struck me as complete whiny, unaccountable, bullshit. Sean Payton’s got legitimate grievances from yesterday. Fat Andy just got beat. Again.
I've heard that as a courtesy refs give out a warning early in the game to d lineman when they're lined up in the neutral zone.
In vaguely related way -- LOS issue -- I noted one KC offensive play where it really looked clear to me that the outside wideout and the inside guy were both on the line (i.e. the inside guy was covered up). IIRC, the LOS was near a 5 yard stripe so it was clear that both guys' front feet were in line. I'll try to rewatch to find the play.
Andy Reid is partly right and partly wrong. It's typical courtesy that if someone lines up in the neutral zone, if they look over to the line judge, the LJ will hand-signal "hey, you're over" and he'll back up. But "courtesy" is the operative word, it's not the ref's job to get your attention, you have to be checking yourself. If you watch the lead-up to the play, Ford has his eyes locked on Brady, never looks over to the sideline.
I think it's a good practice - any penalties that can be prevented by a little active reffing is probably a good thing, we have enough flags as it is - but that doesn't make it the refs' job to prevent those penalties.
That's the key to his complaint. If the refs said to him he was pushing it all game then they finally had to call it on him but gave no forewarning then I can see his beef. If he hadn't been lining up in the neutral zone until the play where they called the infraction then this is just hot air from Reid.

I’ve been kind of lurking on that site since before the Chiefs game with the Colts. No schadenfreude to be had then since they destroyed the Colts. However, this sounds familiar to me and many more before 2004 Red Sox fans laments (after last night’s game).

WR’s are taught to do this. From HS to the pros you’ll see WR’s look to the line judge and give a thumbs up to ask if they’re good.
I like Reid as a coach and would love to see him eventually win a SB but man, for every other coach in this league It. Is. Always. Someone. Else’s. Fault.
This is incredible. It wasn't like Ford was half an inch over the line. He was 6-8 inches over the line. He wasn't in the neutral zone, he was legitimately on the Patriots side of the line of scrimmage!
This is why Andy Reid is not a champion coach. He never holds his players accountable.
Yep--the difference is the WR is asking. Reid just expected a head's up.
And here's the thing, Ford *knew* he was over the line. He was asked after the game and he said in that situation he needs to see the ball. So he wasn't absentmindedly doing it.
It's a coda to this incredible game, but I have rarely seen a profile of a coach better done than this WaPo profile of Andy Reid, and I'll say as far as NFL-related content goes, it's probably way more worth your time than most of the tripe that will come out over the next 2 weeks.
It's a shame we had to crush his dreams yet again - it's a business - but the personal side of it is worth considering too.

Barring injury, the mantle is Mahomes' to take when Brady retires in 5 or 6 years.
IIRC, it was an Eagles WR asking the linesman if he was close enough to the LOS to avoid an illegal formation penalty, and the official motioned to him to move up a couple of steps.
Difference is that the player asked. It’s not the officials responsibility to proactively tell players they are lined up incorrectly.
There may have been situations in the past where the official tells a player after the fact that he’s pushing the boundaries and will get called if he does it again. But that’s the risk of pushing the boundaries; you’re not guaranteed a warning.
One of their defensive guys just slammed James White (or was it Michel?) to the ground when it was obvious he wasn’t going any further, and Hogan got thrown out of bounds far harder than was necessary, twice. They also over-celebrate every little gain or triumph, even when behind. I came out of that game with a lot more hate for the Chiefs than I did going in.

Just a random observation ...Gronk catch against Berry along sideline in regulation with :50 left in game ...watch the replay ...check the spot of the ball! Ref missed it by 2 yards...

I noticed this on the play that Kelce drew a DPI in the endzone (after pushing off). It was the 1st play or so of the 4th quarter, I believe.
