This is insane. Watching 4th round draw and United, Arsenal, Spurs, and Palace are the last 4 teams left, after minnows have all been drawn.

Arsenal and Spurs were two of the last four balls.

Other potential aggro-fests narrowly avoided include a Manchester derby and Millwall vs West Ham or Palace.
It's been almost a decade, but I'm pretty sure West Ham/Millwall was the one that scared them

QPR (Champ) 2 - 1 Leeds United (Champ)
Woking (National League) 0 - 2 Watford
Newport County (L2) 2 - 1 Leicester
Wolves 2 - 1 Liverpool

I saw some of these. In a season microcosm, Everton scored two brilliant goals and looked fantastic against League Two leaders Lincoln, and then gave up a cheap goal off a set piece from a stupid foul and spent the rest of the game nervously seeing out the win. Leicester trailed most of the way away to League Two Newport County (cool nickname - "the Exiles" - because they had to play a few seasons away from home due to nonpay of back rent), scored an equalizer late, then gave up a stupid handball in the box at the death and lost. Only caught the last 15 minutes of Wolves-Liverpool. The Liverpool thread here covered that, from what l saw Wolves looked pretty good. Spurs were only up 1-0 at the half, I watched some of the second half and it was baby-seal clubbing.

Biggest upset was non-league Barnet over Sheffield United, who are currently third in the Championship and so may well get promoted to the PL. Scathing remarks by the Sheffield manager about his team: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jan/06/fa-cup-third-round-serves-up-shocks-as-barnet-oldham-newport-shine

A seething Chris Wilder ripped into his players after defeat, accusing them of complacency. “I’ve just said to the boys: ‘Don’t go out through the main entrance, you don’t deserve to go out of the main entrance. Try and find a door to sneak out of.’ Because that’s what the performance was. It was one of arrogance; it was off-plan, doing what they wanted to.

“The support that our fans gave to the Barnet players was first-class and fully deserved, but they should have booed our own players louder. I knew Barnet would bring their A game to the table, we told the players they would be up for it and raise their game. I should imagine the Barnet players are getting back on the coach are possibly saying: ‘How the hell are they third in the division?’ And what I will say, well, we are third because none of those players that played today are going to force their way into the first team.”
In the PL, in addition to Liverpool and Leicester, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Huddersfield, and Fulham (losers to League 2 Oldham Athletic) were knocked out.

Nobody posted about it but United just beat Arsenal to advance. OGS used the same tactic that he did against Spurs, with his forwards playing very wide and Lingard in a false 9 role. Lukaku had a great first half on the right hand side, contributing to both goals.

Biggest difference between OGS and Mourinho? With United up 2-1, Arsenal we’re gaining control of the match and had the momentum. Jose would have subbed off Sanchez and Lukaku for Fred and Jones. OGS brings on Rashford and Martial, with the latter icing the game.

Eight wins in the bounce for United.

I watched the match last night. it was a great cup tie. Credit to Lukaku for his two assists, his pass to set up the first goal was kinda sublime. Arsenal were forced into making substitutions early than they'd have liked due to injuries, but OGS pounced on that and freshened up the attack with Rashford and Martial. Pogba had a great second half, he's a joy to watch when he's running with the ball.

This Man U team actually look and play like a Man U team. Dunno what to say about Arsenal.

Good call on Big Rom Fletch...both great looks from the big man.

I'm watching Shrewsbury take on Wolves- The first goal was outstanding and after 20 minutes of Wolves beating down the door to equalize and a couple of great saves, Shrewsbury scored on a corner.

And Wolves just got one back.

I didn't realize this is a derby.

edit: and Wolves tie it with a header in the 94th minute. Bummer.

So the FA picked only six matches to use VAR this round? In a match without VAR, Millwall just scored an equalizer off of somebody’s arm.

Both of these late games have been a blast.

For milwall to respond twice to going down and then pop the winner in the 95th is pretty sweet.

Fucking hell.

The second Millwall goal was a clear handball but Everton deserve nothing. Three goals on set-pieces for Millwall. Everton are shit.

My local when i lived in Beckton in London was a Millwall pub. Nice place when it was empty. They had union jacks and bull dogs all over the walls. Most of the men who drank in there had buzz cuts and Ben Sherman shirts and no empathy or love for the likes of me. But...salt of the earth...salt of the earth.

And i used to work in and around Bermondsey near where Millwall play, chapping doors, trying to get residents to cooperate with the council so we could redraw the architect plans for their council houses. It was interesting. But...guid folks...guid people.

I just wanted to go on the record. But as mentioned above...they don't care.

I had a great time at Millwall a few years back, much to the shock of the fancy Londoners I know. People were great and didn't wonder at all why two Yanks were there. It probably helped that I kept my Spurs fandom hidden.

They were in League One at the time and the fans were genuinely pained at their lack of quality. Of course Millwall got a late winner off a set piece and the place went wild. My other friend, an Ipswich fan, had so much fun he goes back 4-5 times a year now.

I made it to Emirates for the Arsenal Man U match. Before the game my wife and me went into a pub close to the stadium. Turned out it was the “visiting” pub so it filled up with some hardcore Man U guys singing up a storm. Good thing I kept my Liverpool fandom under cover. Game was fun. Seemed like United controlled the game for the most part. Especially as Arsenal lost both starting CB by the 60th minute. Alexis got a lot of shit naturally. His goal didn’t go over well. Great crowd though. Made the mistake of mentioning Liverpool on the train back to the hotel to a soused Arsenal fan in his 50’s. He responded “Stevie Bloody G, always the victim.”

I was disappointed when Palace drew Spurs, but this appears to be about the best possible time to ever have to play Spurs in the Cup.

And Conor Wickham scores his first goal in ages on what might be his first start in years after suffering all the injuries.

Surprised by the empty seats at Selhurst for this game.

This has been a crazy first half. After the Wickham goal, an absolutely brain dead hand ball penalty against Spurs converted by Townsend made it 2-0. Gazzaniga made a ridiculous save to prevent 3-0. Speroni returned the favor on a free kick just outside tbe box. Then Van Aanholt was called for a penalty that wasn’t necessary but I also thought looked more divey-but Trippier missed the penalty by a yard wide.

2-0 Palace at the half.
