I have felt the same for years. I couldn't watch hockey in SD growing up cause it was so hard to find the puck. Its the reason I'm not a Sharks fan (became a Bruins fan at BU).

I think I can speak for the entirety of the Canadian population ( not to mention traditional US hockey markets) on this. The Glow puck was the worst abomination foisted onto the hockey world in its long and storied history.

Actually, the red tracer (when the puck was shot) was possibly worse.

It seemed to represent the mass sell out of hockey’s traditions in pursuit of sun belt dollars. IIRC the US broadcaster (Fox?) wanted to get rid of the three periods as well as they didn’t know what to do during the intermissions.

And that broadly is one of hockey’s issues. So many fans view themselves as “protectors” of the game and tradition when traditions are meant to evolve with the culture. And some traditions are stupid to begin with.

In other former Bruin news, Milan Lucic scored a goal last night! He now has 2 on the year. Going back to last season he has 3 goals in his last 89 games.

They aren’t calling it a suspension, but CBJ is essentially suspending Sergei Bobrovsky for at least 1 game.

CBJ is in a real tough spot with him and Panarin lending UFA’s, and Bob’s apparently done something to upset the team.

Rick Nash retiring due to lingering concussion symptoms

In hindsight, a pretty gutsy performance from him in the playoffs last season

That’s awful. What a fickle life, pro sports is.

All the best to him. Thanks for the fun half season.

Bruins made an AHL trade today:

Cody Goloubef for Paul Carey

Journeyman D for journeyman C

Gloubef is from Ontario and Carey from Massachusetts. So both guys going closer to home. Don't think either of them has any NHL potential.

You're stupid to begin with.

@BC what hockey tradition is broken by changes in broadcast techniques? Still the same game being played.
Sorry .. forgot I had commented on this thing.

I actually rather like it when broadcasters change up the broadcast .. different camera angles .. in Canada TSN likes to use a “behind the net “ camera angle for power plays, the “ref cam” was excellent. The “first down” line in football is a great improvement. The strike zone box is very good. (Although I find it’s absence tends to lead to a more stress free viewing experience). The quarterback cam ? .. maybe not so much ( a blur of bodies and then a face full of mud).

But that glowing puck gimmick .. if you know the game it’s pretty easy to follow the puck.

There have been lots of ideas floated in the “baseball is broken” thread. Maybe you guys should suggest a glowing baseball ? The crack of the bat isn’t loud enough? .. maybe sync it with a thunderclap ? Maybe show the flight of the ball like they do in golf or like Fox’s tracer?

Ducks, losers of 11 straight, trade Andrew Cogliano to Dallas for Devin Shore.

I didn’t realize how much of a tire fire the West Wild Card race has become. The Ducks have lost 11 straight and are still tied in points for the final spot. Colorado is in a 1-7-2 free fall and hold the first WC spot. Minny and Vancouver are a smooth 5-4-1 in their last 10. The Oilers keep tripping over themselves, 3-7 in their last 10, but still only 2 points out.

If that was the asking price for Nino, why the hell isn't he on the Bruins right now

Fingers crossed that Minnesota just acquired a center because they're trading one of their own to Boston...

Ugh that one stings, I really wanted Niederreiter - I don’t think there’s an analog to V Rask on the B’s roster, but a retained Backes and Bjork probably could’ve gotten it done

Neiderreiter seems to have gone down some since those three straight 20 goal seasons. He has been pretty bad this year despite a bevy of offensive zone starts and I think his contract has the potential to be very, very bad.

Panarin tells CBJ he won’t talk extension until after the season. Quite a spot they are in here. Panarin and Bob UFA’s, but team is in playoff position and good enough to make a run.

That’s huge. Someone’s gonna need to play on their off side, but Toronto got another first pair D to go with Rielly and that’s bad news for the rest of the east.

Muzzin has a pretty extensive history playing on his off side so it shouldn't be an issue.

Austin Watson suspended indefinitely without pay and entered into the league’s stage 2 substance abuse program.
