I thought about 8 teams too, but in the end, there really is no argument that the two best teams will be playing for all the marbles Monday night, I hope the game lives up to the hype.
Still not sold on Clem. I'm stubborn and would have liked a Clem - UGA or Clem - OU game. But definitely hope that game entertains.

I think he's wrong. Cook is going to be gone. They're just lucky they didn't toss the kid that threw a punch too.

How can Georgia be going backwards after all that? This ref is trying too hard to remember numbers and he's getting the actual call wrong.

Yea but the rule is so vague the refs have no choice. It’s crap.
I know you know I'm referring to #18, but clarifying for the thread, since a lot of shit has happened. He didn't even hit helmet to helmet, it is absurd. You are correct with the vagueness. #4 on the other hand looks a lot worse, but still not even sure targeting. I'm not sure worth an ejection on #4 but ya a PF

Dumbass ref was asking Herman if he wanted to decline the holding call. Umm, no, move them backwards as far as possible in this situation.

Why aren't kickers more skilled than they were 10 years ago? The position doesn't seem to evolve as quickly as other positions.
Because kids don't want to do it. And the ones that do, play soccer. I keep telling my 10 year old the sure fire way to a college scholarship is being able to make 40-50 yarders. If he understood what a "college scholarship" really meant at this point, he'd probably be out there kicking all day and night, but nope...And by the time he does, it'll be too late. Just a boring, lonely skill to learn.

Blankenship never chokes in the big moment...
Missed a chip shot in the SECCG this season at a critical time! :)

Congrats to the Longhorns folks here. This is not what I expected to see from Texas tonight, fully expected a Bulldog blowout. Impressed with Ehlinger's resilience in a variety of ways, and Lil'Jordan Humphrey is a nice piece alongside him, great awareness post catch of where the secondary is going to be, rather than is. Given where OU is going to lilkely to be rebuilding with Rattler next year, hope to see you in the CFP in a year.

We've come a long way from losing to Maryland. It was never easy. FUCKING NEVER. But holy shit, what a ride!

Really looking forward to the 2019 season.

Only so much you can do with an oblong ball. But ya, in general, college kickers are pretty crappy. Then again how many NFL kickers got cut this year. Heck in the AFCN alone the Browns guy and Boswell from the Steelers. Makes me appreciate Adam and Ghost that much more.

Amen to that. I think we all thought ten wins was possible, but not after losing to Maryland and looking even worse against Tulsa.

The funny thing, or not, is I was always a soccer player, only club in college. In med school my bud and I would play flag football. Post game we would bang out 40 yard FGs off turf no prob for fun. Back up 1-2 yards each go, first to miss bought first round that night.
Thinking back to HS in Mass the kicker was a failed soccer player. Oh what could have been.

Because fundamentals aren't well taught in a lot of places relative to other positions. DotB's point is dead on, but of those that do have interest, items such as importance of the plant foot, swing power, fluidity of follow through, and skip step aren't just known by most, let alone how to teach and/or fix them.

For a personal example: It's punting, but I saw a top HS game around here recently, but I saw both teams having punts repeatedly off tip sides of feet. Least power, least control. I felt sick to my stomach, and nothing was done. Field position matters, coaches!

Watch for a freshman named Will Reichard next year. The folks at Chris Sailer's camp and I both think this kid is absolutely generational. Swift, easy, repeatable motion.

I keep telling my 10 year old the sure fire way to a college scholarship is being able to make 40-50 yarders.
Hi Dad!

I laughed out loud for real. Mine encouraged the same to the letter, that's why, and love your notion to be honest. It's a skill I'd like to have in retrospect. My motion absolutely sucks, more suited to rugby.

Yup, when I played football in high school, we didn't even try kicking the ball until a kid quit soccer and the coach convinced him he'd never have to hit anyone or be hit and he joined the team. He could kickoff to the end zone, and made a few field goals from about 38-40 yards, but we never really tried anything longer than that.
