Kliq somehow made it through two hours of work without checking the score. Then of course when I googled the score I had to go see what Inter did, and then checked the standings just to be sure and...unclench. These day games are going to be the death of me.

Surprised at how punchleas Napoli was. They came close on a few Liverpool errors, but really could not make any kind of coordinated, sustained attack. Was expecting a lot more from their attackers.
I think Ancelotti’s main error was in not starting Milik. He would have given Matip fits in aerial duels - with Insigne, Mertens, and Callejon up front Matip and Van Dijk could rely on midfield support to quell any Napoli attacks. Especially in a match where one goal would’ve been worth three for Napoli, I was surprised to see Milik bench-bound until ~70’

Two things that stand out to me with this goal:

1. Kane draws three defenders to him inside the box like he is LeBron charging into the paint, which left Moura completely unmarked for an easy tap in.

2. "Spurs fans celebrate as if it was Christmas Day, New Years Eve and all of their birthdays put together."

I can see what Ancellotti is thinking - a very fast front line can press and counter against a Liverpool aide that has to press ahead. As you said, the adjustment came too late.

They also really miss Jorginho. That’s no surprise given his quality, but it is clear how Jorginho’s absence is a particular drag on Hamsik.

There was scene after game where Kane must have asked Vertonghen the Inter score and he pointed up into the crowd where the Spurs fans were and they suddenly exploded and were going crazy when Inter went final.

Funny thing is Mané was outstanding other than the finishing. Which is kind of what his new contract is supposed to compensate him for...

This dip in finishing has gone back to the int’l break, he missed a sitter and had to be subbed off because of the treatment he got from Senegal supporters. Hopefully he finds it on Sunday.
I’ve gone back and forth on my reply. Confidence and psychological problems are the absolute worst. They can separate the world class from the forgotten. I was never going to be a name in world football, ever. I wasn’t going to be a name in state football. But confidence was my biggest enemy. I was streaky as hell, and totally tied to my mental state. It was awful. My heart goes out to him if this is the monkey on his back.

If Mane has a problem, I hope Klopp and his staff can find a way to fix it. He is an incredible talent. He has two major issues for me: this finishing problem is one and it comes and goes. As for the second, I thought for a long time that Mane is a dumb footballer. His decision making was horrific I. I genuinely think Klopp has improved his football IQ. He’s made much better choices in pass vs. shoot of late, and it’s been refreshing.

When he puts both pieces together, we’ll talk about him like he’s had Mo Salah’s last year. If not, we’ll celebrate some spot goals, thank him for his service, and think of him fondly but remotely.

Yeah, I usually follow the games using Google, and the image that came up under the Spurs/Barca recap was a picture of Vertonghen giving Kane a hug and pointing out into the distance, and I immediately figured that was them celebrating the Inter score, but you, I couldn't be too sure!

This is a TV question, so TNT bought the rights for the CL is the U.S? They only show one game because they don't exactly have TNT 2 ( as far as I know). So, how do you legally watch let's say the Liverpool game today ?

Univision or, I think, streaming through Bleacher Report.

Couldn’t agree more, especially on Klopp’s impact on Mané’s football IQ, and sorry to hear that similar problems affected your career.

I think Klopp’s been brilliant for Mané, evidenced by his goal scoring rate for Liverpool v Metz and Southampton, as well as the celebration by Mané on his debut @ Arsenal jumping on Klopp’s back. I also can’t help but wonder whether Željko Buvač’s absence has also had an impact on Mané.

I do think Mané will be huge in the holiday period for Liverpool, bigger than Salah from a counting stat perspective. That is, if Mané doesn’t take his current goal scoring form to heart

Jesus, I never knew I had it. 464 on DTV but I don't know most of the channels I have on DTV. Much preferred FOX Sports , at least two games live and if you had FOX Soccer , they had multi screens of all the games. Huge step back.

The powers that be believe more money in hand NOW is better than more eyeballs on their sport during the biggest games.

I picked the wrong day between yesterday and today to have an open afternoon while working from home. Looks like the only game with true significance this afternoon is Shakhtar can advance over Lyon with a win, but this is only on Univision.
