I love that Texas has gotten into Lincoln Riley's head by bringing in the just-canned Kansas coach David Beaty as a consultant. Other than pointing out that they'll need to score more than 48 to win, I'm not really sure what kind of insight he'll be able to provide. But it sure seems to have ruffled Riley's feathers so, as Tom Herman would say: "Ok. Cool. Hook Em".

Also this:
It's 10:06 a.m. and OU still sucks.

Austin
Back in August I took note of the Big 12 championship date and scheduled work in Dallas today, just in case Texas made the game, so I could be up here and available should some tickets find their way to me. My wife landed said tickets on Wednesday, and I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now. I pulled my 7 and 8 year old sons out of school, and once I knock out some work we'll be gearing up for tomorrow. The only time I've ever been to Jerry World is when they had a free watch party for the USA/Belgium World Cup match last WC. I can't wait!

I got a kick out of these signs driving up from Austin last night:

So if Ohio State sneaks into the playoffs, the Rose Bowl has to settle for Washington & Northwestern?

So does Wash St make Fiesta, or they get sent to Holiday? If former, does Holiday Bowl take a 4 loss Utah team?

Stanford go Holiday?

I doubt the Fiesta Bowl takes Washington State when LSU is available. I don't recall LSU playing in the Fiesta Bowl in recent memory.

I just found out today the Copper Bowl is now called the Cheez-It Bowl. Imagine your end of season reward being to play in the prestigious Cheez-It Bowl.

What's the order of picking? Fiesta first or Sugar first? I guess LSU to Fiesta makes sense if Georgia doesn't make the CFP (and goes to Sugar). Sugar can't pass up LSU if given the chance I don't think, especially if Okie or Texas is the opponent.

Murray has the most textbook slide I have seen from a QB.
Baseball players know how to slide.

OU finally puts one in the end zone, but since this game started, Texas has been the team better prepared and making less mistakes, IMO. OU blows all 3 timeouts in the 1st quarter, huge drop from Brown on a long td pass, and the only reason they scored the early field goals was because of penalties on Texas keeping drives alive (mostly by one guy on Texas, mind you).

Kind of surprised to see Texas keeping the hurry up in play. I know it's probably how they've played all year, but I'm not sure getting into a shoot out again is in their best interests, although, with their receivers running free behind the OU defense, if Ehlinger can just put a little air under it, they could keep scoring at will too.

Texas is getting killed on penalties. Those two face masks, three pass interference calls, etc.. Without them, Texas would be way ahead.

I agree. But, I'm talking about the team as a whole. Both of those facemasks, and at least one of those PI's were all on the same guy. That's an easy fix for Texas. Oklahoma has looked confused and all out of sorts from the coaches to the players for most of the half, although if they score here going into the half, it'll be pretty bad for Texas. Texas going into the half behind would be the worst result possible for them.

Yeah, if Oklahoma takes the lead here, I can see them rolling in the second half.

Weird time for OU to use a running play. Lucky to get another face mask call to stop the clock, and add 15 yards. Just dreadful.

Texas needs to forget about trying to run the ball, and let Ehlinger sling the rock all over the field. OU's defensive backs can't cover a pee wee team, never mind Texas' huge receivers. If Ehlinger doesn't have a receiver streaking open, just throw it up to one of the big guys and let them jump over the OU defenders. If they do that 3 times, they'll get at least 10 yards and keep the chains moving.

Oh look, he dropped back and threw it, and it's a touchdown. OU can't stop it. Just keep fucking doing it.

this man is a future OC
If they just keep throwing it, they are going to win this game. If it weren't for stupid penalties (some of which were terrible calls), they'd be dominating the game. Their defense actually looks really good, aside from the penalties. If they keep scoring, and they don't commit penalties on defense, they can win this game. But, they have to keep scoring, and to do that, they just have to keep throwing the ball. Never take their foot off the throat of this putrid defensive backfield.
