Gronk back at practice today. From Reiss:

"Rob Gronkowski is back at practice today. Watched him align in a three-point stance and then thrust up against a teammate holding a blocking pad, which is one indication of his back injury improving."

The injury report is getting beefy.

Is the Ryan Allen ankle thing new? Time to bring in a few punters for workouts perhaps.

Mike Reiss: Patriots list 13 players as questionable, with WR Cordarrelle Patterson (neck) added to the list as a limited participant Friday.

Mason and Schwenke out. Seems like Edelman, Hogan, Gronk are good to go though. But it looks like no Michel or the right side of their OL. Yeesh.

Bump. Seems like CP can do both.
Let's see what happens when the other team starts game planning for it, no? He looked great but GB was short and when they stacked the box and he didn't have straight line runs he wasn't very effective. On top of that, what happens when they see him in, they know it's a running play so TB audibles and they blitz. Can he block?

It was a nice use for him, I'm not entirely sure it's our solution.

If Patterson lines up at RB and they stack the box, why can’t they just spread out and throw it?

Before the game, with only one TE dressed, I thought we might see CP lined up at TE, at least in the route-running version of TE.
I also thought we might see more 3 OT's (with one being the extra TE) but I guess that isn't far from Dwayne Allen's role anyway.

Cause he’s a shitty WR? They can but a smart defense doesn’t show run in that situation until there’s not enough time left on play clock to audible and spread out or they disguise it. They don’t need to necessarily need to stack the box without knowing that it’s a run and plan accordingly. All I’m saying is teams adjust to film, the Pats aren’t the only ones capable of it.

It’s not like this was the first time he lined up back there. I’d be pretty surprised if the Packers hadn’t prepared for it.

They still have to account for him even if he is “shitty”. But it seems like you don’t like Patterson at RB which is fine.

I think it’s an interesting way to leverage the personnel that they do have to cover for injuries. And so far it’s been effective.

I think it works just fine as a gadget or in a limited role but I think it’s silly to think he’s a solution as primary backup with White taking a full load. This goes back to the trading deadline where we got into a discussion on it and some us agreed and disagreed. When White was limping off the field last night, no I wouldn’t have been happy had he blown a knee and CP was our primary back with a street FA coming in on the bye week. Reasonable minds can certainly differ on it, but yeah I thought they should pick up a RB and I’d have liked to see one with some size, so we aren’t going four and out from the 1 again.

I don’t want him to be #2 on the depth chart either. I just like that they found a creative way to use what they have. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to use it occasionally in the future either, as long as they figure out a way to pass out of it.

Then we aren’t disagreeing. Right now Barner is the only other back on the roster if I’m not mistaken, while hoping the faberge egg that is Michel’s knee heals up once back from the bye.

Hurt knee on gadget play in the 4th quarter v Titans — as a receiver. Spectacular.

I had completely forgotten about Jeremy Hill until I clicked this thread and for some reason it didn’t go to the newest post.
