Solid effort from Liverpool thus far, only 1-0 at the break though.

Lallana had a nice headed effort off a Moreno cross cleared off the line as the half ended.

The biggest story of the game so far is them playing The Beach Boys "California Girls" going in for the half. That was strange but cool.

Hope Liverpool can get a few more here

I’ll assume this may eventually be rolled up into its own thread, but Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, LCFC’s owner, may well have been on board the helicopter. Judging from the reaction of many around the team, he may likely be dead

At the scene
By BBC Sport commentator Ian Stringer

I have seen staff, backroom staff and [the] first team in tears here his evening. The reception area is described as silent, people looking around and crying and not knowing what to do and consoling each other.

I remember the owners taking over. I said hello to them in native tongue, their face lit up. I have generated relationships with them, seen them in Thailand in Bangkok in their home surrounding, they are really nice people.

The chairman looked at me today on the way to the executive box and said "hello and good afternoon".

We were keeping a close eye on him because of the nature of today's game and it is really eerie around Leicester at the minute this evening.

I think that's a safe bet, sadly. He always seemed to take the chopper home after each match. Also, if he wasn't on the chopper you think we would've heard by now.

Arsenal and Palace is end to end action. Very entertaining if for some reason you’re watching Chelsea and Burnley instead.

Admittedly I haven't seen much Palace this season but how the hell is Meyer not starting? It's been night and day since he came on. He's working his ass off too.

Two controversial calls in the Arsenal Palace game. Arsenal gets a goal after a clear handball by Lacazette .. then Xhaka gives away a stupid penalty where he sticks his leg out and Zaha dutifully falls over it.

Edit: terrific game .. as mentioned, know idea why Meyer isn’t starting - he looks the real deal.

God, such a sick yo-yo dribble from Busquets, long pass to Alba motoring up the flank, then Suarez completely whiffs on the cross in the box.

Another very soft pen in the Man U Everton game. Similar to the Zaha pen but more of a dive by Martial. Then Pogba takes a very bizarre run up (about 20 seconds of running in place) , misses the pen and gets a lucky rebound for the goal.

Methinks Real Madrid will be in the market for a new Manager come Monday morning. Is that Mourinho’s music I hear?
I'm going to guess Real Madrid goes with Conte since Scolari, the youth team manager, seems to be too much of a long-shot for Florentino Perez. Perez did elevate Zidane to first-team manager from the same role as Scolari, but Zidane is Zidane and he had the confidence to make the move easily.

Nobody in Palace land knows either. The first few games it was “match fitness”. That definitely isn’t the answer anymore, and the question is asked every week on the Palace podcast I listen to. We are all mystified.

Eriksen and Dele on the bench tonight at Wembley. Also the pitch is apparently in shockingly bad condition following the NFL London game:

This pitch looks awful I can’t believe Spurs convinced everyone to play this at Wembley when presumably every other stadium in London was available

Petition to change Sissoko's name to Sissokohno, since that's inevitably what I say every time he touches the ball.

That was like watching a bunch of guys run around on a big bowl of oatmeal.

I remember when Spurs gazumped Everton to grab Sissoko right at the end of the window a couple of years ago. The Toffees blogs were full of pearl-clutching and teeth-gnashing about how we always got our candy stolen by the big six. Haven't heard much complaining since.

Sissoko did play his best game for Spurs against West Ham last week, so it could be argued he was in form.

That being said he checks every box for a disappointing transfer player. They spent too much, he's frequently injured, he wastes possessions, he bottles easy chances, he picks up dumb fouls and perhaps the most brutal part, he occasionally flashes brilliant moments of skill and athleticism that remind you of how Spurs were duped into paying way too much for him.

Cup match today between West Ham and Spurs should be awful. West Ham missing about 10 players due to injury or suspension

Pulisic just tapped in a goal against Union Berlin in the DFB Pokal :( He’s been the best player on the field since I tuned in.

I’m probably the only one who cares, but it’s now 1-1 after Sebastian Polter comes on with a goal on probably his first touch of the game.

Edit: 2-1 now on a fantastic goal by Dortmund from 15 yards out. Pulisic with the assist.

Polter with another late goal - 2:2!!!

Last year’s matchup between these two in the Pokal ended in penalties. Union missed all of theirs. “Holding my thumbs” for better tonight.

California. Duh.
Derby players have scored all 4 goals in the game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, unfortunately for them, 2 were into their own net. And it's not even halftime yet.
