Between here and everywhere.
I'm not glued to the toilet anymore. But I still can't eat anything without getting a bad feeling and having a very uncomfortable shit. I long for the days of solid, easy, 1 or 2 wipe shits where it was honestly an enjoyable experience, and not this current iteration of flaming hell escaping my colon ever 2 hours or so.

ANYWAYS.

If you're not listening to my podcast, you should. Tonight I'm interviewing the absolute SMOKE Kirstie Ennis, who also happens to be one of the bravest, strongest, most courageous, and generally just fucking cool people on earth.

For those of you who don't know her. She was a Marine SGT who in 2012 was in a helicopter crash in the south of Afghanistan. Her injuries resulted in her being an amputee with her left leg being removed above the knee.

To date; she's climbed 4 of 7 peaks, the highest on each continent. She's continuing to train to hit all 7. She wants to be the first amputee to snowboard Everest.

She walked 1,000 miles across England for wounded veterans.

She was an ESPN The Body Issue Cover Girl.

She's done work with Chris Long (yes, that Chris Long) and Conquering Kili.

She was on The Today Show, she was in Cosmo Magazine, she was a stunt woman in the Mark Wahlberg film Patriots Day.

She holds 3 Masters degrees.

Despite her hardships, she'd probably say she wouldn't trade any of it to be a Detroit fan, though.

It makes sense that we have a game 5 regular season Bruins thread before a Game 1 Red Sox ALCS thread.... hockey fans are better, anyway.

As for the Bruins, the young guys always seem to say the right things, and Jake DeBrusk is no exception. Easy to forget he's only 21. Man, the future is bright for this team.

I mean, I really just wanted to brag about interviewing Kirstie.

I honestly think a rotating day off would be a great thing for this team. Letting the young guys get a day to see the game from the 9th floor, giving veterans one game of a back-to-back off.

Really good body positioning by Grzelcyk there to get the dump-in for the B's change. Did a 270 degree rotation around the puck in the last 5 feet before reaching the red line for the dump in and kept the puck in a position where only he could play it until he could get the red line for the dump.

From the in-arena announcer, 4 on Larkin for roughing, 2 on Acciari for unsportamanlike conduct.

That was a weird penalty call for what happened. Good to see Acciari throwing down, with McQuaid gone there’s not too many left who can/should

It doesn't seem like a good thing that those 3 have 60% of the Bs points this year, but they're so good together and so much fun to watch.

Seems like there's a group of teams in the NHL this year that are going to score a TON of goals. The B's, Maple Leafs, Caps, Penguins, Tampa...Already a lot of crazy scoring early in the season.

What a satisfying game to watch. Now hopefully the Red Sox will continue the positivity.

Right? Put up an 8 spot and I think you can honestly say Bernier had a decent game
The Bruins lead the NHL in goal differential, despite losing 7-0 on opening night and only having played 5 games.

The interesting part is that the Bs, Caps and Tampa are the only teams that can play defense out of that group. Not sure it will matter with the way the leafs are scoring, but it is noticeable.

I'm ok with it in this case just because it gives them an additional 24 hours from the standard turnaround for a near-cross continent flight... ideally it would have been Tues/Thurs/Sat on this Canadian west coast swing, but what we have instead so far is:

  • Road back to back with travel to open the season
  • 3 days off
  • Matinee semi-not-really-holiday home opener
  • Home game the ensuing Thurs/Sat
  • 3 days off
Good work NHL. The Ringling Brothers shut down last year so that isn't even an excuse anymore.
