Tapatalk just released an update that will solve much of the bickering that occurred on our site.

Tweets now embed within the app

Does this mean the SoSHApp will have this functionality at some point in the future?
Why should the site spend (limited) resources on updating an app that won't work better, or offer any functionality, than literally any browser window?

Since the major upgrade, the best way to view/read the site on mobile is via any mobile browser. The app, and Tapatalk, both require a lot more work from the Tech folks, for very little return.

Just use a browser, people.

It was my understanding that the app was mostly plug and play using the Tapatalk technology. If that isn't the case, I agree it's probably not worth it. Not now anyway.

I constantly read the praise for the mobile view and understand the logic. The benefit of the Tapatalk app for me is that it consolidates multiple forums I read into one navigation that doesn't require me to use URLs.

This is a very welcome change because reading this site without tweets is outrageously hard at times.

Can we stop offering the app? If the general consensus from the staff is "use a browser", maybe we stop offering the app.

I use the app almost exclusively because I love the timeline format and the ability to only see unread threads. That being said, if those who run it don't think it's worth having (which seems apparent since there is no attempt to answer any questions about it, just a simple "use the browser") then why does it still exist?

We have thousands of people using the app so we'll continue to update it.

It hasn't been a priority over the past year but I'll get to working on it. The next update will be a lot of work but after that it will be easier. Right now I need to go to Tapatalk, build it and publish it, etc. it's a pain in the balls (though probably not that bad if I did it regularly)

Tapatalk has a new option where they do that for us but it's a pain in the balls getting our account updated. I'll probably have to pull this app from the store and then publish a new one, but it's not really insurmountable

I'm not sure all the staff don't like the app. I don't, but others might.

I bookmarked this and set it as a launcher on my home screen, so I always open up to the timeline of only unread posts on mobile web:

In the app when I use timeline I can browse a thread, change pages in that thread, and then when done with the thread press the os's back button and return to the timeline without it completely reloading so I can continue scrolling down to catch up all I've missed since my last visit. If I do this with a browser on my phone it brings me back to the previous page in the thread, or I can use that link and reload the entire timeline... Which means I have to figure out where I left off.

Literally the only reason I stick with the app, when browsing on my phone I'm lazy. When browsing on desktop I'd just open all the threads I want to read in a new tab all in one go, read them all and be caught up... Not so fond of doing that with say 30 tabs on my phone.

I used the app for a long time, just switched to the mobile browser, and am much happier with it.

What do I have to do to remain logged in via the mobile browser? Using safari on iPhone 7, and clicking 'remain logged in' doesn't do it.

When on my mobile, I use the app (you can tell because I fat thumb the shit out of everything and have to make edits).

FWIW the mobile version of the site *should* be better. When we started using the app we were running Invision which had a dogshit interface. We're now on Xenforo, probably the top forum software with an awesome mobile presentation.

I'll upgrade the app sometime next month

Noticing this stopped working the last few days. Am I alone in this?
It seems like this is not an SOSH issue as other forums I visit on tapatalk (like Sox Prospects) are broken as well....

Seems like an app issue or twitter tweaked something and fucked it up

Not to go off topic; but I really like using the iOS app with the only issue being that you can’t to my knowledge, block people from your feed. It’s particularly annoying when the person you’ve blocked is an obnoxious shit-poster who appears in every thread.

Yeah, I just asked about this in backwash for same reason. Nip said they’re working on it.
