Finau has birdied 7 of his first 8 holes, still waiting for a mention on the broadcast.

Fowler just got a bit lucky. Hit a wedge in, landed on the green and hopped forward. It had lots of backspin and started to come back. It rolled right over the call mark, hopped and stopped. He’s got like 5 ft for birdie. Looked like it was gonna till back another 10 feet or so

Tiger in at -4. As important as his score, he is on the “late” side of afternoon starts. They’re doing split tee threesomes. Nantz said -2 was the line between “early” and “late” starts this afternoon

I like Phil and always root for him but the coverage of him yesterday and today was ridiculous. He's a non event, they shouldn't give him the Tiger treatment, there is better golf to show.
Does he even move the ratings needle much?

When is the last time Phil put together a crazy short game clinic anyway?

Tiger opens round 3 with a bird. Probably thinking he needs to shoot 63/64 to get in the mix for tomorrow, this doesn’t seem like a course where the leaders will fall back.

It’s amazing how bad Rory’s wedge game is right now.
One of the commentators made a remark on this during the morning play and speculated that he drives it so far and accurately because he has a really low spin rate (makes sense) hence his wedge trouble is because he has a really low spin rate (also makes sense). But beyond that he’s having a really hard time controlling yardages, so while I think it may be accurate assessment, maybe not particularly for this weekend.

Yeah last week at Firestone there were some holes where he’d hit a bomb off the tee, then air mail the green from in the fairway inside 100. Someone made the observation today that with JT and Tiger this morning Rory would be last to play from the fairway, then first to putt all too often. The spin thing does make sense.

Anways, we’ve got a pretty awesome leaderboard here.

When did Woodland switch to Puma? He was a UA guy forever.

Ha before Fowler even teed off on 1 they started in on the he is not physically right with an oblique strain. I have no issue with the guy as a person he seems like a good dude but it’s crap like that which keeps me from rooting for him. It’s Saturday at a major so there is a good chance that he nose dives again and they are already carrying water for him.

Is this something that’s common? I’ve never really noticed a Fowler/injury type of propaganda. Are you confusing him with Day or have I just missed it?

There is always some type of excuse giving for the guy. He is an extremely popular player I get it. He is probably the best player in the world right now not to have won a major. But that’s never a storyline that’s said out loud. It seems like the tv crew is consistently making excuses for him and unable to say anything slightly negative. That annoys me. I’d rather they just call it like it is.... likeable guy, great player, struggles to close in majors. There is nothing wrong with saying that

Johnny Miller usually rips him. I think Fowler not winning a major is a pretty big storyline every time he tees it up, and it is covered as such.

Some ugly swings here from Woodland.

Tiger’s been all over the flag when he keeps the tee ball in the fairway.

Ugh a yard too much roll out there.
