Hoerner to the Cubbies. That means at least one of Casas and Beer will be there for the Sox.

Certainly isn’t being coy about signing or going to college. Seems pumped to be drafted by Sox

For those of you who are much more into prospects, where would he rank in this farm system today?

I'd say at least 5 - I seem to remember Houck debuting there last year on SoxProspects - but the system is so shitty now, it wouldn't surprise me to see him even higher

They say the same about Devers.
Similar, but not quite. If I remember correctly, Devers was projected as being passable at third base, but scouts said he would need to eventually move to first.

The article I read on Casas seemed less optimistic about his ability to play third in the majors. But hey, they kid was born in 2000, the 21st century and is so young almost anything can happen.

That’s disgusting.

For me, Casas was the most intriguing guy that the Red Sox were linked to over the past couple of months. I read an article about him on Baseball America describing his approach and intangible stuff. It's a puff piece, of course, but he certain seems like a kid with a good head on his shoulders and you can't teach 70 grade raw power.

70 grade power? Keith Law says he will likely hit for average but his power his an "open question".

Moondog, other scouts speak differently on these points.

Here’s what some of Casas’ MLB scouting profile had to say about his bat: “Casas is all about his bat and the power he can produce with it. In terms of raw pop, he’s up there with just about anyone in the class, registering high exit velocities at various times.

25 to 30 HRs, but low batting average predicted here.

And.... "The bat has huge potential, though, particularly the power."
