We know he got into a Twitter fight with Chad Finn and wasn't treated nicely and he probably listened to some WEEI somewhere in there as well.
He didn;t say "twitter,." I thought it was "social media." Maybe it was MySpace and this dates back to the dawn of time.

Why are we wasting so much time on this clown? Just put him on ignore and let's get on with our lives.

Okay. That's right. Here's what we know about our hero:

1. Born
2. Lived in Quincy
3. Found WEEI on his radio dial
4. Moved to Minnesota for school
5. Strangled Harmon Killebrew
6. Got into a Twitter fight with Chad Finn
7. Signed up for SoSH

Guys, I think that this would be an awesome movie.

I am just figuring the exchange like
Chad Finn tweets article showing T&R ahead again in ratings
MNihane Fan: Responds in his typical genteel and kind way, and doesn't demean or insult CF in any way.
Finn Goes way over the top in umbrage and blocks the guy from Montana.

Chad Finn doesn't seem the type, but Pete Abraham would come right at you. Some of them would/do/will. Minihane is probably one.

Chad Finn's sense of humor is sometimes so dry, it would blow over with a hand wave.

My experience with dumb people leads me to believe that they often take humor that they don't get as an intense personal insult, even if it wasn't intended that way at all. Like, if they detect that something is a joke, but they don't get it, then they are certain that it is being made at their expense, by people who are conspiring in some kind of secret code designed to fuck with them.

I know I've said it on here before, but when they have Gorman in studio it's some of their best stuff all year. He's a fantastic interview, knows his shit and is actually very quick and funny.

Agree completely.

Today's show was great in general. Tons of good Cs talk, a delightful Middle Earth-style reading of Brian Windhorst's column, Fred's Jim Rome impression, and of course Gorman.

Tolkien Windhorst was fantastic. I was at the gym and trying to not laugh out loud during it.

I didn't listen early on, but what happened to Fred's money? It sounded like he went into his retirement account and all the money was gone?

He said the account was with Vanguard, so likely nothing happened to it. Vanguard makes updates and parts of the system are not accessible and it appears that people's balances have disappeared. Typically this is squared away again in a few hours or the next morning.

(I've read many complaints about this recently on the Bogleheads forum. Google "Vanguard account disappeared" and you will find a lot of threads.)

I've been listening to the podcast from Philly this week to get some local Celtics flavor. I have to say, the show sounds great. Fred and Rich sound invigorated, they've had good interviews, the bits have been strong and even Wallach has been tolerable.

Heh. Fred HATES the Pats. He’s jumping all over this Brady misses OTA’s story and how it’s a “big deal”. When Wallach posed the question about whether this “takes the shine off the Patriots”, Fred didn’t even let him finish and gleefully said “yes yes yes”. Over and over.

So what? Brady missing OTA's is a huge deal and a distraction that the team doesn't need right now (or ever for that matter) and given his Facebook stuff Brady has opened himself up to this by not showing up or discussing why.

Will it have an affect on the team long term, doubtful, but Brady is definitely acting like a Prima Donna this off season and people waiting to jump on him for something have just been given something to rail on him about and that includes Fred.

You can defend Brady all you like but this is a bad look for him.

"Bad look" is a made-up criticism used in the absence of anything substantive. It's only a "bad look" to someone who gives even an iota of a shit what people like Fred, and Volin and Steven Assmith (or anyone "waiting to jump on him") think. I don't think Brady does. I know I dont. (and that's where the similarities between Tom and I end).

While it seems logical that "the more time with receivers new and old, the better," there's a lot of things that sound logical to me on the couch that actually mean very little.

While I don't, at this point, fully agree with you that it's a "huge deal", the main point I was trying to illustrate was Fred's transparent hatred for the Pats and how he always finds a way to paint a negative light on the team and its fan base as often as possible. For example, later in the broadcast, after an interview with Jeff Howe, he even tried to shoehorn this latest Brady story as somehow further corroborating the Wickersham article, which he repeatedly said was "absolutely correct". To be clear: It doesn't really bother me, and I actually find it somewhat amusing, given that Fred is admittedly a miserable Jets fan.

Jets and Lions, I'd be spiteful too. If I was host of a sports talk radio show in New York City, living in New York City in 1996-2000 with the Yankees at full Jeterian I can't imagine it'd be easy not to come across as a spiteful individual with a transparent hatred of Yankees Superfans.

That makes sense... at the end of the day the end of season results will determine whether or not this sideshow is important.

Bad look or no, the shine cannot come off of the Phial of Galadriel that is the Brady-Belichick Patriots.

That's just not how that works.

How so? Aren't there 1000 variables at least that go into determining whether they had a successful season, most of which we're not even privy to?

I saw the Simmons tweet. It was cringe worthy. He deserved to get dragged by Fred, who obviously despises Simmons in general.

To say Simmons has lost his fastball would be the understatement of the century.

Yeah that chant idea was horrendous and Simmons deserves to be slammed over it.

I enjoy Fred getting pissed over being compared to Jerry Garcia wayyy too much! "Let's see how pissed off Rich gets being compared to Satan!" lol

The Simmons tweet was perplexing and of extremely poor quality. It was chum in the water and Fred obliged. 'How can anyone be friends with him...this is the kind of thing that ends relationships...' I also enjoyed Rich's 'YOU'RE not THE king' - Simmons must be like 'how did I not think of that?' Shooting fish in a barrel type stuff but hilarious nonetheless.

Weird

Mike Gorman on this AM. They start the segment (more or less) with Smart's contract for a solid 3 minutes. Both T&R ask him about his worth

After the break Fred asks "did we ask you about what Marcus Smart said about his contract after the game?"

They literally talked about it at length 6 minutes ago...

Was this the guy who “knew” Andy Brickley? That was a fantastic call that they bailed on way too soon. Could have milked that for another 5 minutes at least.
Yeah him

No they said it in the next break wondering if it was Codsey.
Yeah I heard that after the fact. I posted right after I heard it, then about the middle of the next hour they mentioned it.

It baffles me that they can't figure out why the listeners don't want to hear Rock n roll Mike. It's like I don't care what song he knows the lyrics to, he's annoying and far too boisterous!

It sounds like he inadvertently withdrew money from his former employer's 401k (with tax and penalties due) instead of rolling it over into his new employer's 401k or an IRA.

That being said, I could listen to Fred talk about his mother in law all morning.

Listened to his comments on the hourly podcast. Fred deserves some of the grief he gets, but that about as good a 15 minutes of radio as he’s ever done. Really admirable work.

I was watching it on the simulcast and he was pretty visibly upset and frustrated in a positive way. He clearly wasn't playing it up, but it hit a trigger with him which was obviously real. They pretty much hung up on Breer and moved on. If this was a general celebrity death, I don't think Fred would have done that, but this obviously hit him pretty close to home. Fred can be a giant prick at times and be miserable but it seems like it's all connected and what makes him good at what he does at some level. Even when he sucks and is at his worst, he's not playing radio or playing characters.
