So Boston crushed them in game 1, Tampa crushed Boston in game 3. But game 2 would have been tied but they let a clear slash go as Marchand was on a breakaway, and the Bruins lose a close one. Then tonight the refs gifted Tampa a late tying goal on a non call on a clear penalty on the McAvoy takedown.

This series is basically even but for the officiating. So frustrating.

I mean, it’s an uphill battle no matter what when you have no more than one fully functioning forward line. But it’s fucking garbage to grind like that only to have it fucking ripped away because of a play that is called 99% of the time.

‘‘Twas an unexpectedly good season for the bruins. Shore up the defense this offseason and the bruins should be one of the favorites for years to come. Hopefully the cap comes back to bite Tampa in the ass soon

The B's could be easily up 3-1

Impossible to overcome terrible officiating and a very talented Tampa team.

But they’re aren’t. They didn’t lose because of shitty refs, though that has been brutal and really makes the league look like shit.

Play better and make the useless shitbag refs irrelevant.

I love anybody’s optimism that still thinks there is a chance in this series. I wish I could believe that too, but this one is over going into Sunday. I’d usually be more disappointed about it, but I’m hopeful for this teams future

How many teams are superior enough to the other good teams in the sport that officiating can be rendered 'irrelevant'?

No. The calls have been ridiculously one sided and most of the goals have been because of power plays in this series. The officiating needs to be way, way better.

edit: Felger..is that you?

C'mon man. I get trying to say the "B's need to play better" but the game tieing goal was literally gifted to TB when McAvoy got taken down. Series is 2-2.
Ya, refs blow calls and whatnot but this has been so uneven it's atrocious

When National announcers are outright calling lopsided officiating and not even using euphemisms to cover it. You know the reffing is atrocious.

Hockey is an amazing sport, but the NHL is a shit league. Amidst all the bad officiating, we’ve stopped talking about how absurd it is that the Bruins had an amazing season and have nonetheless played awesome teams in rounds 1 and 2.

Cassidy, asked how to keep the players from dwelling on the officiating: “I would tell them not to, but we’re human beings. It’s game after game after game. Look at the Acciari penalty. It’s unbelievable. The league gives you a directive at the start of the year that if you’re going to go at the stick you have to go under the stick and not on the hands. He goes under the stick a foot from his hands and you’ve got a six-foot-five guy that I think really sold it. The refs have to be on top of that. They gotta be on top of that call.”

“At the end of the day, we need to find a way to play through it. As for the calls, we’re all tired of talking about it. We’ve got to suck it up and play, and I thought we did a good job with that tonight.”

God dammit. Fuck this. The Bruins are fucking winning this series. They are helping make the Celtics improbable run fun, since they are the only team with a realistic hope of winning it all this postseason.

Just kick the shit out of them early in game 5, dammit.

Think Cassidy heard the in-game whining from next door?

You realize there was still 7+ mins left in the game right? It was far from over.

Also it's pretty telling how awesome McAvoy has been this year when people are upset at him for a bad game when he's essentially a rookie.

Where is the cutoff point that makes it a call that the Bruins can't come back from? 5 minutes left? 3 minutes left? I mean, I get it, they should be expected to just snap their fingers and score a goal against the #1 team in hockey in the playoffs in 7 minutes. It was far from over. So, when is it not far from over?

And sure maybe TB get's a real goal in those remaining 6 min. But also the Bs were flying and then get a demoralizing cheap goal against. Maybe the Bs keep flying and score another so its 4-2.
A losing team can ALWAYS play better but free goals are still free goals.

We burn in RS threads about pitchers getting squeezed. Ya sure the pitcher could have done better but ya know sometimes an objectively wrong call is made an another team benefits. Hence we cry for robo umps. The 'better' team can't always overcome that.

I know people are upset and it’s easier to blame obviously poor officiating. But Tampa was better when it mattered, and that’s why they’re up 3-1. This sucks. Get mad at me for saying so all you like.

F Felger. I love this team. I’m bummed it might end earlier than I’d hoped. But Tampa is a better team.

You can tip your hat to Tampa for their play, while also acknowledging that a catastrophic missed call was directly responsible for Tampa tying the game. But for that error, we’re likely tied 2-2.

That was particularly egregious. There’s zero excuse for not making that call.

But as flawless said. There was plenty of time after that to overcome and they didn’t.

Not to say anything of the power play Boston would have gotten that would have most likely killed two minutes as well.
