Peter King in Dachau gift shoppe mode:

I bet Houston will be all over Solder. The Texans haven’t replaced a solid left tackle, Duane Brown, after dealing him to Seattle at the trade deadline last October, and don’t have a pick until 68th overall in the third round, and so will have to make some hay in free agency. Bill O’Brien and Solder overlapped on the Patriots during Solder’s rookie season of 2011, and the Texans coach has high regard for him, I’m told. There’s one other X factor: Solder’s son Hudson, 2, is undergoing treatment for kidney cancer, and his treatment base is in Boston now. So that could play a role too—although other NFL cities have pediatric cancer units, to be sure.

Yes, Peter ... because if you've dealt with one set of doctors in keeping your child alive, you can just find another set of doctors equally as skilled and who you immediately trust in another city.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- For the second time in the past seven years, the Denver Broncos have roared into free agency to fix a quarterback problem.

In 2012 it was Peyton Manning, and this year it's Case Keenum.

Sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter the Broncos will reel in the 30-year-old Keenum to be their quarterback of the present and future when free agency officially opens Wednesday.

It was a great story last year, and some guys don't get rolling til late in career, but I have doubts he can repeat what he did.

Andrew Brandt has been going on for a while about how it’s important for one player to get a team to break the seal on full guarantees rather than this constant chasing of illusory dollars. Glad to see Cousins get his money and perhaps set a precedent for other deals.

Holy shit. That’s a huge guarantee.
Extremely well done by Kirk. Showed how to play the franchise tag. Established a benchmark for fully guaranteed contracts, for QBs at least and then who knows. And he landed on a team that was one game away from SB.

Bravo.

He just out-Revis’d Revis. He was also fortunate that he didn’t suffer a major injury, which is obviously the downside risk. Good for him. NFL players deserve greater guarantees.

Yahoo Sports is suggesting the Pats sign Bridgewater and draft a QB, because I think they're on the "this will be Brady's last season" train.

I'd be fine with Bridgewater on short dollars if McDaniels thinks he fits the system and can learn fast enough. Dude's career was derailed by injuries, not lack of talent or brains. But something tells me Bridgewater will be looking to go somewhere where he can compete for a starter role, regardless of any Patriots "allure".

Nobody with starter aspirations is going to come here if he has any alternative. That’s one downside of how things played out at QB at the end of 2017

Fuck. Not a surprise on Dola, he is a luxury at the price tag, but so clutch in 14, 16, 17 playoffs.

That said, Miami is a curious choice IMO, unless he is just all about maximizing the dollars given all he has given up over the last few years at this point.

Danny A has been substantially underpaid for at least a couple of years. I hope he gets a lot of the Dolphins' money.

Say what you want about him, and I'm sure people will question his effort in recent years, but this is a Hall of Fame caliber interior lineman. Sign me the fuck up.

Yup. Get your money, Danny, and enjoy the weather. Gillette will give him a nice return ovation. Had the whole arc of bust to playoff hero.

Not worried about Dola at all.

The Dolphins will cut him mid-season when the realize he's isn't an every down player. He'll re-sign with the Patriots to fill the inevitable holes caused by attrition, and make several clutch playoff catches as the Pats go to the Super Bowl. Again.

Here's what else I was told about Danny Amendola -

The Patriots would not budge with Amendola's request for more money because get this....

They are trying to sign Ndamu
Regarding Suh i’ll believe it when i see it. Brady seems to like Dola. Doesn’t sound good that Solder might be walking away to Cleveland though.

Well that's definitely one way to bait Gase into upping his offer for your FA WR. "oh, you're gonna sign my guy? Well fine, i'll sign yours!"

MYRTLE BEACH!!!!
Love the guy, but honestly was surprised he wasn't sidetracked by a concussion this year. So I feel the time has come and if he gets paid and his final years are spent in South Beach dining at various places with his model good looks, it ain't all bad for him. We had a bit of a squeeze at wideout and Edelman/Jones can handle punts. He was basically regular season insurance the last few years.

Suh is a dirty mofo but he could be OUR dirty mofo. I’d take him. Sign him and trade Malcolm Brown for more draft capital. Championship!

I like Solder, I think he is a solid left tackle. I would hate to see him go but with their cap situation and needs I think an investment on the defense with his dollars would go a lot further to improving the team. Suh is one of PFF's darlings. I think he will be productive for another 2-3 seasons. He gives you a consistent interior pass rush as well as being stout against the run. Patriots got burned so many times against the run against 11 packages. Suh would help there.

edit: while drafting future guys is something I want the Pats to do for the D-line they don't usually help much in year 1. I want to see immediate improvement on the D-line and having guys who can be good against the run and the pass is critical.
Also if (and that’s a huge $$ if) Suh signs here raise those Patriots Pirate flags high. If that isn’t this seasons ultimate Pirate Patriots move I don’t know what is. Yeah yeah yeah probably won’t happen but fun to think about.
